Notre Dame has reeled off three straight wins after starting the season 1-3, but Navy has won two of the last three meetings in this series after 43 straight losses to Notre Dame.

12:00 kickoff on CBS

They said before the season that Notre Dame was considering green jerseys for the Army game in Yankee Stadium. Why the switch? Plus Notre Dame is the away team here, so this is especially odd.

I don't think Navy will get any sort of push in the middle to chew the clock. Notre dame wins this game by a comfortable margin.

I'll give the advantage to ND, Navy is terrible, just like 99% of ND's schedule.

Enjoy your bowl loss.

ND has been practicing 15-20 minutes a day on the triple option. I doubt that has happened in the past. They SHOULD be much more disciplined than in recent years when defending against Navy. One thing of concern is the amount of injuries piling up. Floyd, Slaughter, Riddick, and Allen are all banged up and getting tested today. I think Riddick and Slaughter will be getting MRIs today.

Well Notre Dame absolutely handed them the win last season, I don't see this team beating around the bush about getting it done.

I wish they would only wear the Green Jerseys for National Title games. Make the kids earn the right.

Sleeper's just upset because he got a bad batch of Wisconsin cheese Saturday night.

I agree, they need to be worn only on extremely special ocassions or brought out of no where like the "Bush push" USC game.

Say what you want about the schedule...but ND and Ohio State will be the same place the night of the National Championship game. Both will be at home watching it on TV.

How about three years ago?

Althoug the the Midshipmen will come in heavy underdogs this year, having won two out of the last three against the Irish isn't just luck.

Navy deserved those wins. Maybe the only luck they had was Weis had ND poorly prepared for every game against Navy when he was there. No such luck this time around with BK, they'll be ready.

I don't mean to be rude, but come on.

Navy beat a TERRIBLE 3-9 Irish team that was essentially freshmen for their first win, and it took them 3OT's to do it.

Last season's game was just ridiculous. I sat in awe watching Jon Tenuta's defense get worked (it was the worst game of the season from an "outcoaching" standpoint, so bad Navy's coach even mentioned it in the post-game interview) and seeing Michael Floyd and Jimmy Clausen's fluke mistakes hand this game to the Midshipmen. Notre Dame had a 32-20 advantage in first downs (my favorite indicator of the better team) and Clausen passed for 450, but redzone turnovers and ball control from Navy ruined Notre Dame. Not having Armando Allen and relying on Hughes and Riddick didn't help, but any time your defensive scheme is so bad (and in this game, predictable) and your offense has three uncharacteristic turnovers you're playing with fire.

Do I think Navy is bad? No. Hell I even root for them every game except this one and Army (my grandfather is a 1940 graduate from the Academy, and my father was in the Army for Vietnam), but they in now way have the talent to match up with Notre Dame, even with their gimmicky blocking schemes. There is not a person on that roster who can guard Michael Floyd. Last season was his first game back off an injury and it showed, this year he's hitting his stride and should have a big game.

If I'm Diaco (whom I am very excited about as a defensive coordinator), I think Ian Williams will dominate the line of scrimmage, and Manti Te'o is one of the best scraping linebackers in America to help on outside runs. Notre Dame's corners will be put in tight man coverage the entire game, it's obvious they are man corners and not meant to be in zone coverage (which sadly Tenuta couldn't realize). Harrison will be loaded into the box because there won't be a passing threat at all.

Offensively I hope Allen is back, but Wood is coming of age quickly. Theo Riddick is out, but Floyd, Jones, Goodman, and Eifert will be too much for the Midshipmen.

At the end of the day it wasn't luck per se, but it was a shitty 2007 team and luck in 2009. If Notre Dame loses this game they will have to give it away yet again. But if I'm a Notre Dame player, I'm pissed about last season and want revenge (like a Buckeye this week against those fucking Boilermakers).

Is Riddick out for sure? He could have returned yesterday and early reports were that it wasn't a high ankle sprain.

As for green jerseys, I like wearing them once a year. It's neat when they do it unexpectedly, but I've always felt that pumps the other team up just as much. It's like an "oh no you didn't" thing if you're the opponent. haha

I've said it before, but a jersey with green numbers as an alternate away jersey is needed. Lou Holtz had them for a game, we need to see them now.

I'm not actually sure, he wore a boot today though. I will be pleasantly surprised if he's good to go on Saturday. But then again it's fall break and he can stay off his foot the entire week if deemed necessary.

This. Although I don't really want them to get to into the alternate jerseys like other schools have.

I love the green jersies, but hate them for games like Navy. Would much rather see them for the home game vs. Utah. They should be used as an additional excitement for fans at home games for bigger games. The USC "Bush Push" game was absolutely nuts when they came out with those on.

I'd like to chalk this up as a win but we're not on that level yet.

Pretty much my opinion. Still a little ways off before not worrying.

Come on?? My post was that you can't win two out of the last three years because of luck. You respond with come one and that years ago the team was a terrible freshmen team. Does that mean I was incorrect in anything I stated?

I'll try again.

Navy is not the team this year it was the last two. They will be heavy underdogs deservedly so.

Navy has won two out of the last three against the Irish.

You can't win two out of three in South Bend as an underdog and think it's because of luck.

Well you insinuate that they've won two of the last three and that it wasn't luck, they were better. That simply is not the case.

Theo Riddick is out 1-2 weeks. Michael Floyd is dressing but will only play in an emergency. Taylor Dever is still out, and Jamoris Slaughter will not start.

We can expect to see Goodman and Kamara at wideout and TJ Jones in the slot. This is not good at all. Lots and lots of running the ball with Kamara's blocking skills being called on frequently.

Notre Dame needs that bye week to get healthy.
