As a songwriter - Top 10 GOAT
As a performer - somewhere between #100-#200 GOAT

I tend to like his songs when performed by other artists (to gauge company, I put Bob Marley in the same category) I -do- like his work with the E-Street Band, through - I'm admittedly biased toward a straight-on rock/boogie groove.

I can't stand "Born In The USA"

Thunder Road puts him up there for me alone. And for the people who said he isn't influential. I call bullshit.

The Gaslight Anthem, Brand New, Kevin Devine, Elliott Smith, and many more have cited him as an influence and played covers of them.

And if you can't find at least 5 Beatles songs that you like then you're probably Al-Qaeda.

LMAO. I agree. This song in and of itself makes me cringe.

I know millions of people love his music but I will never understand it. I listen to a lot of classic rock stations and when a Springsteen song comes on it's like letting the dentist drill into a root canal without Novocaine.

the 40's and gay talk show also have their won XM stations

'the 40's' encompasses an entire decade of music and the 'gay channel' I would imagine is talk radio. There are only a few artists that have a channel that revolves around their music. XM Sirius is not going to devote a channel in their lineup unless they have the demographics to justify it.

I like a few of his songs. I hate his politics. But he obviously has longetivity and quite a following.

Many great songs. Rosalita, Thunder Road, Jungleland, etc. The E Street Band is great music. I saw Little Steven on spring break and Voice of America is still a favorite of mine.

The man cannot sing...unless you're comparing him to Dylan, then he's an A+. The lyrics may be fantastic, but I can't figure them out listening to him mumble and grumble. I'll pass.

See I for the most part cannot get into an artist if they don't have at least serviceable lyrics. One of the more important things in song for me. Now the instrumentals and vocal presentation are important too but unless it's a straight instrumental song with no lyrics I'm probably not listening to an artist much if they don't have good writing.

I really loike him and I am only 25. Not a big fan of Born in the USA. Born to Run, however, is awesome. It is not possible to not like this album, IMO.

Its funny how Born in the USA is probably his biggest commercial success and it is probably his one song that has not held up very well over time. Admittedly it is a very different sound from most of his other songs. Too much synthesizer, not enough piano or sax. Very 80's of him. I feel like Born to Run is a much fresher sounding song, and that song is a decade older than Born in the USA.

I like bruce hes definetly grows on yea if you get away from the commercialize stuff. He would rank top 20 for me cause of his abilities of writing and playing.

One of my favorite artist. I have a recording of him from 78 in Cleveland. "Racing In The Streets" with a transition into "Thunder Road" is wonderful from that concert.

I can completely understand their influence on music. I get that. But I just feel that they are overrated. I would definitely put Bruce Springsteen's writing above that of the Beatles'.

And no Pants...I don't like any of those songs you listed. When they come on the radio, I begin flipping through trying to find something else to listen to.

SJ, I feel that my disdain for something from England makes me even more Irish. Maybe you should give a little more thought to your loyalties...the Fighting Irish, or some limey bastards?! LOL!
