Soundgarden was heavy.
2010 said "what the heck was that?"
1995 said"that was grunge, baby...stick that in your Justin Beiber and smoke it"

by the way...kind of an interesting contrast...
Bon Jovi, on Letterman, trot out the 10-year-old 'Its My Life' in the most predictable and trite manner that they play it every stop across their latest US tour...
while Conan sees Soundgarden with a brand-new release and some out of the mainstream perspective...kind of fresh, and they didn't throw down the predictable hit.
just an observation.

Make no mistake, Conan has never always been smooth. In his earlier years with NBC, he seemingly did shows while on cocaine and under the impression he was being electrocuted. Anything but smooth is the correct way of describing those initial few seasons. Conan circa 1996 had yet to master the craft. As a presenter he was high-strung, and his interviews often delivered nervously and awkwardly. What he always has been, however, is hilarious. From day one. A true funny man, indeed.
The masterful and consistent performer he's become through the years is absolutely amazing. He's without question the best in the business, with David Letterman, the former King of Late Night, now a distant second.
As for Jay Leno, he's as relevant as a compromised paperclip.

Let's be real, NBC is known to fuck up quite a bit.
This is no exception.

I can't speak to Conan's early days, but IMO he is by far the best interviewer on late night, at least outside of Carson Daly (which is apples to oranges). Letterman you just know has zero personality and is very socially challenged. Leno has too much of an ego to care. Maybe it's an age thing with Letterman and Leno at this point, but Conan just has a much better rapport with his guests.

That Conan bit was pretty fucking funny. Kanye brings it on himself, though.

True. But I loved the "lets just put Kanye in a corner for a little bit"
side note: Julie Bowen is smoking hot (way better that in her Happy Gilmore days) and incredibly funny.
I loved Conan jumping up and down and going "I love being back on TV"

I seriously thought that he would come right back to it, but no, Conan played it for a good two minutes, put it in the corner and did four or five jokes, and when he cut it off, Kanye was still rambling about something.

I would do unspeakable things to Julie Bowen.
Best line of the night: "you should learn their names!!"

is it just me...but every time I see Harrison Ford on one of these late nite chatters...he comes across as an uncomfortably quirky, eccentric, inarticulate, half-senile perv.

He is a weird dude, at least through this interview.
But this is why Conan is the best. No one else can make the awkwardness Harrison is putting out there and make it funny.

I think this is Ford's schtick on all these shows....I think I've seen him act the same way on Letterman and Leno.
probably this is his mask for his "awkward shyness that led him to acting".....
in reality it just makes him look like a slobbering idiot....I agree, Conan handled him well....
