Are there any other ww2 junkies on the huddle? I love reading all about the war in Europe and am looking forward to taking a tour of europe in 2011 which hit's many of the big battlefield's.

A couple area's of interest for me

- German Naval Action's and Tactic's
- German jet and rocket aircraft
- Soviet Tank's and tank tactics
- British special forces operations

Yeah, I like me some WWII.

Although any loss of human life is a tragedy, WWII was an incredible and highly complex war. The knowledge one can gain from researching WWII is mind boggling. So many interesting facets that go way beyond the surface.

If you study the history right after WWI and follow it along, you can clearly see the war coming. It was all but inevitable. My primary focus is on the PTO. It's incredible how much area it took in. Thousands and thousands of square miles.

I'm fascinated with how obviously evil people can generate a following.

Two of the worst humans ever? Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin. I've done a lot of research into Stalin and what makes him tick.

If any of you have the History channel you should check out WWII in HD. It's a series following around a specific solider in each one and showing footage and telling someones story in the big turning points of the war. They have footage of Japan post A-bomb and its pretty tough to stomach.

I'm a WWII buff. My main area of interest in Eastern Front armored combat, specifically in 1941-ish.

I asked this on the other thread but didn't get any response. Are there any boardgamers here? There seems to be a lot of overlap between history buffs and boardgamers (particularly the old school Avalon Hill line).

Avalon Hill games Panzer Blitz, Blitzkrieg. I had some good times playing Avalon Hill games.

WWII to me was the most interesting war. I'd pay to be in the Navy in those days.

I just played a game of PanzerBlitz yesterday, as well as a quick scenario of Patton's Best. I still play a handful of AH games online via VASSAL--I'm in a campaign game of War & Peace and a game of Third Reich.

Used to play Panzer General back in the 90s.

My areas on WWII interest is mostly the European theatre both air and land. would love to take a ride in a mustang or b-17.

I'm more of a Cold War buff, but because of the overlap, am a buff on the end of WWII. So, the collapse of the Third Reich, building of the bomb, and the start of the Cold War.
