Those polls are a frigging joke. St Edward has destroyed two powerhouses this year and plays annually one of the toughest schedules in the state and are not even ranked regionally in the Midwest. You got a one loss team from Indianapolis and Glenville who because of some corrupt officiating won against that Florida team ranked 11th in the USA .. I am always for the public schools ... I am always for Glenville . This however is an injustice and I am tired of incompetant or biased sports writing.

Ed is ranked #6 in the Midwest in Prepnation...a far more reputable poll than USAToday.

Also, they've gone 14-15 the past 3 years, thus removing themselves from the national radar.

If things stay the way they are, they'll get their chance to jump out on the national stage in the second round of the playoffs!

If you are referencing them playing Glenville in the second round, I don't think Ed's will stay in fourth or fifth place. They play X, Moeller and Iggy to end the season. Wins over X and Moeller will get them some points, but if they lose, I could see them dropping to sixth or seventh and possibly meeting Glenville in week 13.

You answered the question, their only ranked 4th in their own region.

Regional rankings have nothing to do with polls YTYK, I think maybe the National pollsters have been burnt by Eds in the past. But if you want them ranked all you gotta do is put a Fla., Cali., or Tx. behing their name and viola, there you go. Heck, put one of those state names behind Tuslaw and they probably get nationally ranked.

Here's how it works.

People log on to their favorite site and make fun of Massillons 22 poll titles.

Said people then switch to college forum & brag about their favorite college teams National titles.

Same people then switch BACK, to brag because the evening paper just arrived, and they noticed their favorite HS team is ranked in the state.

It's that simple.

How have the past 4 decades treated you?

I hope St Ed's wins state this year, then they'll have something you don't have, a real title

You mean like they did in 07 when we finished 6-4? Is it Ursuline or Mooney that is also known as the greater Youngstown area All Star team? Oh silly me....it's both.

I love reading Mooneys programs, its like a college program

The name of the school is St. Edward High School. There is no "S" in the name. It's St. Ed.

It's not possessive...it's not his school it's named after him.

It's not plural. There's only one of them.

There no need to say St. Ed's.

Hilliard Davidson might disagree. You're better off bitching about enrollment size.

I agree with you, but I'm pretty sure the banners outside of school, the ones on the poles on Detroit, has an 's' at the end. I believe they read St. Edward's. I'll have to drive by there later today to make sure. If I remember I'll snap a photo.
