Through two rounds only one husky remains in the winner's bracket. I'll let you guess....

A tough couple of days at MIT for Huskies. I was hoping for 4 top 8 finishes, got only 1. A couple close dissappointing losses to other area wrestlers will hopefully serve as fuel for the competitive fire. The best thing that probably came out of this tourney is the target should be off Schaefers back. It would be hard for Brakeman not rank Utley as favorite after his victories over Wheeler & Suvar.

Shake it off Huskies, the season is still young.

I applaud the Huskies for going to something like the MIT. Wish my Generals would go, it would really help them get a better feel for what there tough distirct will be like. Catanzarite and Ellsworth are looking good so far for Woo.

Can anyone tell me why a team as good as Waynedale wrestle all duals and doesn't go to things like MIT or even Firestone tournaments anymore. I really don't get that. Not trying to get jumped by the Golden Bear mob -- just wondering :)

I think they will be at Marion Elgin 1/14 & 1/15....should be a very tough field

Waynedale was also at Olentangy Liberty Classic, taking 3rd behind Lexington and Olentangy Liberty. Several things at work here...one, getting out of the area and not wrestling the same kids over and over and two, there's an element of great reward wrestling in duals and dual tourny's as we do. We've had some of the biggest memories over the past 5 years coming from one on one duals. Also I might add that the Elgin takes in varsity and reserve wrestlers and I believe they could even wrestle each other in the finals if it works out that way. And what benefit is going 2 and out at major tourney? Huskies, Knights seemed thinned pretty quick at MIT.

I get why Waynedale wrestles all these dual & pool tournaments, lots of matches, lots of experience. It really would be cool if they got back to participating in one of the Holiday Hammers (MIT or Brecksville) or even a return to the Dies Memorial.

Granted, as Wildbear points out, a bunch of your guys are going to go 2 and out, but the payoff is with your top guys getting on the mats with some major league stiff competition that will pay dividends at Maple Hts & Columbus.

And the whole WCAL (not just WD & NWN) could use a little regular season humbling experience. Lets face it, the WCAL has had a lot more tragic 0-2's & 1-2's than podium finishes down at state the last two years.

Well put ^^^ Is this WD's first year out of the Dies? As soon as I saw the schedule criticism, I thought they did the Dies.

They didn't want to leave but they really wanted to get into Marion which is the same weekend I believe. They are going to attempt to get back into the Dies next year I believe if they aren't happy with Marion or if Marion switches weekends.

The Bill Dies Memorial is a nice tournament, not as rigorous as Medina & Brecksville but still plenty tough with your top wrestlers seeing state caliber competition towards the finals. It's usually scheduled in the middle of January and Brecksville usually wins.

Don't hold me to it, but I think Waynedale came within 10-15 pts of winning it a couple of years ago.

Bears wanted in the Marion Elgin, and last year the level of competition was eerily simliar to The Dies. In sheer numbers of qualiers/placers, Elgin and Dies were with 2-3 of having the same number. Bears did finish 2nd at Marion Elgin last Year behind D-II Lexington. This year it look like Olentangy Liberty is the team to beat....

There are 27? returing state placers/ state qualifers represented at Marion Elgin this year.

Bonus at Elgin- Dual/Pool style=10 matches in 2 days instead of hammers getting good matches and younger less experienced guys going 0-2 and sitting for 2 days.

What Claymont team would we wrestle??? The 3 boys that did Alpha prior to the rest of the "Team" or the "Team" that wasn't permitted to do hydration with the "Honored 3" or are you a whole team now?

Ok so nothing like that has ever happened at waynedale, what a joke. But seriously this would be a quality match for da bears and not far away. I think it could be close the Stangs win, but both teams could have state level matches at several weights. Claymont shys from no one either.

Get Touk to set it up...I would like to see it happen. Claymont is always tough and it would be a good barometer for the kids to see where they're at.

PS I must warn ya though..If the Mustang come to Waynedale, Ya'll better shake hands...or it will be the headline story! ;)

I thought I 'd jump in here and give the Bears the edge. But after analysis Claymont is pretty stacked from bottom to top! You got these Warners, throw in a Burkhart, Burcher, Langdon, etc. Hey beast...maybe we should've scrimmaged these guys instead? What became of Cameron Beane?

I looked online for WABC info. No times or teams listed. Maybe beast has some inside info.

Hopefully it will be a full two day tournament this year. You listening Mother Nature???????
