Im a little taken back by this statement....Dustin totally dominated on his feet. However, Dakota, essentially owned the 2nd period riding and nearly turning several times the entire 2nd period, so my opinion is....freshman Stanley wrestled pretty well against JR 2 Time SQ, 3x county Champ Grier. The Score and end result was in Griers favor, Yes. Grier is a great wrestler and a true sport....however, you cannnot take anything from Stanleys having a nice 2nd period. He Hung In there.

Beast,

I thought to that Dakota wrestled Grier well, score dosen't always reflect the whole picture. Appreciate your boys sportsmanship,also if that was your son that wrestled at the Smithville youth tournament, he likewise handled himself well.

Looks like the WCAL will be decently represented, I've been eyeballing Yappi's Garfield Hts D3 updates and it looks like the Huskies are getting 4 down to state (Fortune, Hershey, Topp & Schaefer) Waynedale & Chippewa are looking at 2 each (Harter & Beam--B.Hall & Srock) & Hillsdale looks like they may advance a wrestler or two.

Bummer of a day for Vogelhuber, Grier & B.Stanley, all of whom I thought would advance but apparently came up short.

Kudos to Dakota Stanley, looks like the freshman made quite a run.

It looks like other area D3 teams Orrville, Triway & Tuslaw also had some qualifiers.

Anybody who has official results or stories about the area grapplers--please post, the OC WCAL area thread has been pretty dead of late.

Congrats to the 16 area D-III wrestlers from the Northewestern Sectional advancing to state!!! Good Luck and finish strong.

Northwestern Sectional was solid enough to send more to state from Garfield Heights than any of the other 3 sectionals at 16. I think Beechwood sectional sent 15, Brooklyn sectional 13 and Rootstown sectional 12.

Congrats to The Bears on finishing 3rd at Districts!!!! Behind powerhouses CVCA and Chanel.

Congrats to wooster... No qualifiers since 05, then getting two out this year who had to knock out perry kids to make it. That is awesome to say the least.

They need to get old Luke myers who was the 1999 heavy d1 state champ for them back in the day back in the room he's a great man and I bet he could still bring it!

Bearboy, Did you wrestle for the bears in 1969? I knew a Myers who wrestled for them at that time.

I think Coach Worth is doing a great job at Wooster. (And because it is Wooster the good coaches don't stay long, just the ones who are medicore at best do.) I think the Wooster program struggled for a bit when they were searching for some consistency at the coaching position. The youth numbers are decent so hopefully this is one big step in the right direction for the program.

Sorry no I did not this is just my handle I'm not a waynedayle person but a avid Wayne county fan. Sorry for the mix up! And ya you're right on Luke winning in 1990 I got the dates mixed up. That dude was definitely a beast. Grew into a nice man with a big heart. And coach worth is def doing a fantastic job. Anthony catanzerite and zach Ellsworth are wonderful young men and good wrestlers deserving Thier state birth. Congrats to all Wayne county wrestlers and best of luck to all. Go get em men!

Coach worth just called me... Has one booklet of tickets available. I believe he told me section 220. They are in row b....get a hold of me by sending an email to [email protected] or call coach worth if you have his number.

Is this for real? Got this in a e-mail this morning. About time they spread out the upper weights.

The 14 weight classes approved by the committee for 2011-12 are as follows: 106 (pounds), 113, 120, 126, 132, 138, 145, 152, 160, 170, 182, 195, 220 and 285. Three middle weight classes – 145, 152 and 160 – were retained, although they are 7-8-9 in order now rather than 8-9-10. The largest weight class (285 pounds) remains unchanged as well.



the classes have just changed for next year

1514-The new classes were published in the Plain Dealer today, looks like the weight class changes are very real.

Anybody have any thoughts on how it will affect the WCAL next year? Teams with an abundance of heavier grapplers should benefit.

My poor Bears!!!! Im hoping we have a heavy guy or two stumble into our room....or my kid puts on 50lbs. 140 just became 195...SMH

Waynedale has been struggling to fill the heavier weights for a few years...this year will be no different...add +1 more heavier weight...and take away -1 of our core.....double whammy. Add in that our undersized 103 now has to give up an additional 3lbs. That is 3 negatives for this team. There is a solid group of kids, I cannot say different...however, these changes mix thing up and make things more difficult for big goals!

Northwestern better get Jesse Young on the cream cheese & pasta sauce regiment, from seeing him at county last year I'm guessing he probably had trouble making the minimum weight to compete at 103.

Can't really shed alot of tears for da bears, they will drag some cornfed lad out of the Mt. Eaton back country and will teach him to throw people instead of hay bales. Waynedale is an easy favorite in 2011-12.

I don't really see the new weight class structure altering the WCAL tournament, again, the Bears & Huskies will lead the way followed by Norwayne, Chippewa & Smithville. The latter 3 are closing the gap but it is still at least a few years before someone besides NWN or WD wins the title.

I agree with Beast that BIG GOALS will be much harder with the switch. Programs like CVCA are in a much better position to adjust to the new weight classes.

While winning the WCAL along the way would be cool, The Bears have large goals in sight for 2011-12.....add the fact that CVCA is more than likely moving to D-II.....and that opens D-III.

I want my kid...and as many of his teammates as possible at The Schott....and peak performance (obviously).....everything up to that point is preparation.
