I Know I retired but this is worth it . After Zane Nelson Broke the 1987 Waynedale fastest pin record of 8 seconds in 5 seconds last week he just broke it again and set the new state record made in 1991 in only 3 SECONDS! Since last week he has pinned in 3, 5, 8, 8, 9, 9, 10, 10, 12,19 and 19 seconds. Sorry just a proud Dad needing to share a little enthusiasm about his son. Wayne county holds a state record , glad to be a Bear!.... Back to retirement....please don't tell my wife I was on hear...

What a selfish attitude. It's all about what benefits our kids not the promotion of the sport or the WCAL. Why not just become Notre Dame because you're clearly too good for the rest of us. Why is it even a accomplishnent to win the league for the Bears? Just stay home since it's so tough to waste points on league.

The real question is......

How long would it take 140LB Nelson to pin Mariettas 160????....I'll go with under 0:20!!!!!!
Beam would get him in 0:15!!!!

The next question is......

What is Palm Pre talking about??? The 2 teams that don't wrestle many league foes are the ONLY reason anybody knows the WCAL has wrestling....Think it through...Palmzilla!!!

I have to agree with this. Bragging about quick pins is really not impressive. bears seem to have a quality team, but back off the bragging of pinning first year wrestlers.

Oh yeah and Waynedale, you have been saying for 3 months you are top 3 in the state and you finish 8th at Elgin Inv ? I might be wrong, but district and state are most likely a bit harder than the Elgin Inv.

Bears beat crestview head to head who were third at the duals. Harter did not wrestle. If he does I believe they are top 3 probably. Not sure why everyone is slamming the bears when they are doing the same exact thing as the other top teams in the area. Not saying that makes them top 3 in the state and I don't know whoever said that but I will take your word for it. NW wrestles in MIT only. WH wrestles in top gun only correct? So according to most of your criteria how are they much better off? Crestview duals had 2 teams in the top 3 in div3. Olentangy had a stuot field with them and new lex. Plus perkins was there I think I saw. Coshocton was ok. Elgin was ok. Those two tournaments were no
CIT, WIT, CAT classics by any means but the nice thing about them from the sounds of it is each kid wrestled a lot of matches and saw some district, state qualifiers with the exeception of one kid maybe who SET A STATE RECORD! That record for the entire state that now belongs to the WCAL. Also all the kids are wrestling matches not going two and out .

West holmes wrestles topgun and MIT. truthfully it is not fair to

beam or Nelsons wrestling the schedule they do they will be good cause they are but the true competition for them is getter better cause they wrestle better teams. Its ok everyone has great records and can still place at state, just tuff to get to the very top unless you wrestle the very best . If I were to transfer to a new school for wrestling I go to a team that did this.

HUH???

I'm not going to speak for the other weight classses, but i will say this year my son has wrestled 2010 D-2 state runner-up, D-2 5th place, D-2 7th place, D-3 8th place as well as several qualifers(cant say for sure on the credentails of all), in Addition, the kids he has wrestled with 2011 rankings are as follows: D-2 #1...D-2 #2...D-2 #5,... D-2 #8...D-2 #17 (honorable mention??) D-3 #10, D-3 #11...

Now i could be looking through rose gold glasses, but that seems to be some descent competition...better than the local talent pool IMHO

Top 10 teams
278.5 Olentangy Liberty
269.5 Ashland Crestvie
261.5 Jonathan Alder
251 Archbold
229 Sandusky Perkins
214.5 Nelsonville-York
212 Galion Northmor
206.5 Applecreek Waynedale

Bears wrestled without Top seed Undefeated Tyler Harter....add a few wins at 112 from this kid and the Bears end up where??? 8 matches...., hiis points mmay not win the tournament, but it would jump us in the team standings considerably!!!

Attacking Waynedales schedule is way off base. The "big 3" as someone called them (WD,WH,NWN) all wrestle schedules of similar difficulty. In my opinion the only team within 25 miles of Wooster that can call the Bears schedule weak is Wadsworth. The Knights, Mustangs and the Huskies are in the same ballpark as the Bears in regard to schedule difficulty, then EVERYONE else is at least a step down, some many steps.

As far as Falcon W. Bush, he ain't my favorite, but he's proud of his kid and I can respect that. Plus, a state record is a state record----and it resides in the WCAL (how's that for league promotion!!-Palm Pre)

I'm a dyed in the wool Husky Fan and I hate defending Waynedale but these attacks on their schedule are just plain stupid, even dumber is ragging on a kids fast pin because it was against a weak opponent--check me if I'm wrong but the last record holder was a mismatch too, most fast pins are (heavyweight exception) and every tournament has them.

I am with you Jmar, a very ignorant and angry post. What parent would not do or want what is best for their child, and if putting them in a more proven program makes them selfish, than I guess so is every other parent out there in the world.

Add in Harter, 8th place finish becomes 4th or 5th. I was very impressed with the Bears team. They really get after it!

Wow , I can honestly say I am surprised by the bitter responses even over a positive post? There have been literally millions of matches in Ohio History , Hundreds of thousands of mismatches ! Perry has huge mismatches in 1st rounds of tournaments along with the other superior programs in Ohio. Perry just beat Mckinley 76-0 , Possible mis matches there?? His 5 second pin the week before was against Harris of Canton south who has 8 pins himself 6 in less than a minute in the last 2 weeks. Is that still a Mismatch pin? His first school record pin the week before of 8 seconds was against a solid senior from IV who had just pinned his Orville opponent in our triangular, another mismatch record....No. Pins in 3, 5, 8, 8, 9, 9, 10, 10, 12, 19, 19 in 9 days is a heck of a streak for a sophomore The 3 seconds is also ties for a national record. He missed the pin record at Tuslaw by 2 with 28 pins last year as a freshman 140( his brother Cory holds the record at Tuslaw of 8 seconds against Smithville). Zane needs 9 more pins this year to break the Waynedale record of 30. Its fun stuff! Wrestlers work so hard so lighten up and high five when someone does something like this. Why all the hateraid on here? I heard about the bitterness in this county but Lets keep it civil. There is no cheating in wrestling , it doesn't care about race , income, or politics! Lets keep this a forum that encourages and gets out great info on wresting....and can we all enjoy a great moment now and again!
Another cool thing going on in Bear country is the great Takedown contest between Zeb Beam and Zack Nelson. They are both on the pace of over 300 takedowns this year! Its crazy! Last week the two of them accumulated over 145 takedowns in one weekend!!! Thats gotta be up there! Zeb is a head right now and just won MVP at Marion...He is on fire at 32-0!! This is all good for wrestling and brings those Bear fans out in record numbers!!!! So Quit throwing the eggs!! Wrestling needs all the excitement it can get to draw more kids into the sport and fans!

1514,
Northwestern, Coshocton, Kirtland, Cardinal, Norwalk, Rootstown, Wellington, Hillsdale, Smithville & South Central
I may be missing some teams, but its something close to the above.
The lineup doesn't seem as tough as in past years, but it will be a nice tune up for the upcoming SMCC duals. Smithville & Hillsdale should get some good work in too.

Thats great for the Nelson boy for setting a state record CONGATS. I think the Norwayne heavy wieght had one in 4 seconds at the Dies Tourn. in 2008 and I beleave the Hershey boy had one around 4 or 5 seconds the year before that. So 3 seconds wow!
