I thought the biggest play of the game was Ben's long pass to Wallace out of the end zone.

Ben got hammered but delivered the ball about 40 yards downfield. It was only 7-3 at that time but the Steelers scored a TD to go up 14-3.

Not quite as big as Bradshaw's bomb to Swann to clinch Super Bowl X but the play kind of reminded me of that, the way Ben got hit.

MY THOUGHTS!!!!

1. Steelers played it safe most of the game, with brief periods where they opened it up. The way that one TD looked so effortless with them going from their 4 or so to inside Cleveland's 10 in TWO PLAYS was beautiful. Ben looked out-of-sync at times, but overall was more crisp than I expected.

2. McCoy was better than I expected. He made some good passes. While I agree with the poster who mentioned that LeBeau probably was vanilla with his schemes, I do have to complement him for making some good passes after Cribbs (who likely was considered 40-50 percent of the offense before the game) got hurt. It's a situation where the team's down by multiple scores late in the game and you're the focus point of the offense because the run game's no longer in the mix due to the deficit...and you're still making plays against the Steelers.

3. Of the Harrison hits, the Cribbs one was clean. He lowered his body to tackle Cribbs as the other guy (Timmons, I think) hit him from behind and knocked him forward. That led to the head-to-head. The one on the receiver looked more like an infraction to me.

Here you go AM, maybe this will help you out.

So were the hits on Cribbs by Harrison really that bad? I didn't get to watch the game but I keep hearing about them from friends.

I've seen harder hits. This was just helmet to helmet although not on purpose. Harrison was just a beast yesterday 10 tackles 2 sacks. Joe Thomas was no match for him.

I think the first one could have been flagged. The the second was fine.....it was on Massaquoi.

But I don't know how you can flag the first one. Harrison was going for mid body and Cribbs ducks when he cuts and the helmets hit. It definitely wasn't intentional.

Intentional or not, with the new rules these both should have been flagged. Don't agree with these rules but if you call them in some games, call them in all games.

If TJ Wards hit got fined and scrutinized on here by you clowns, then the harrison hits were just as bad if not worse. Cheap ass bitch

I agree with that. You can't say that Ward's hit should be fined/penalized and not say that at least one of Harrison's should've been. Unless of course you're mentally handicapped.

I would say the first helmet to helmet hit should be a flag and warning and then a second one in that game should be a suspension.

I don't like giving the commissioner that much power to look at the video and start suspending key guys.

If it takes two then you really can't complain.

Can't speak for anyone else, but I liked the Ward hit...just like I liked the Harrison hits. Think most of the complaints about the Ward hit were made by Bengals fans.

I really don't think either hit was cheap and neither should get flagged, but the fact that they are so "pick and choose" on the way they officiate it...well, that is my problem with it.

I'm a huge fan of aggressive defense and big hits and all those things, but this was the type of weekend with a lot of serious injuries where you almost think maybe somebody is going to get killed in a game.

The NFL should evaluate what's going on and try to police it better, but also consistently.

The Steelers are an aggressive defense and their players are mostly just playing hard. Sometimes just by the nature of the play, a runner or receiver could start to fall and then the defensive player ends up making helmet to helmet contact but it wasn't intentional. I just don't want to see somebody get suspended for a big game on a play like that.

It better be really bad and I say two strikes because then that way it takes away a lot of controversy. You already have that warning documented, like a technical foul, and then the second one is major. Player is ejected for the remainder of that game or suspended for the next game.

I agree...but Ward got fined, and his hit was on par with Harrisons. Harrison should be fined, only because Ward got fined for a similar hit

I'd agree with that and expect him to be fined, particularly for the one on Massaquoi. The thing that I'd be worried about is the news article I read today (link not provided, I'm lazy) where the league office is considering suspensions. Not because I'd have an issue with suspensions being handed out for the more brutal head-shots...but because it gives me the impression the NFL's considering pulling a NASCAR and altering how they do business partway through a season. Like, "Head shots were a penalized with a fine for weeks 1-5, but there were a lot of 'em in week 6, so we'll start suspending now."

I'd agree with this if this was how they do it for normal rules...but this is altering a rule for the safety of the players, which is the most important thing.

If there were 5 OT games in week 6 that had a lot of controversy and all of a sudden they're like "we're gonna switch to college football OT rules" after PRo style OT rules for the first 5 weeks, that'd be ridiculous.

But this is different. This is the NFL saying "holy shit, someone in our league is going to fucking die" so we need to make the change RIGHT NOW, not wait til the end of the season like we do on normal rule changes.

I'm starting to get concerned about the Cleveland 3 stooges( BR,Likethat,Commander). I know they hate the Steelers but I'm starting to worry about their well being.
