3 Wisconsin students get $86,000 in fines for not opening the door and cooperating with police. That's bullshit.
There is a benefit for hosts who cooperate. Chaney said officers on his Community Police Team broke up another house party on the same night about a block away from the kegger. The hosts at that party worked with police - and were only issued about $5,000 in tickets, he said.

"They get some sort of citation," he said, "but nothing in comparison with the parties that are uncooperative."

Well from the article they were pretty stupid. $5 a cup? Every party I've been to its free and if you know the housemates you give them a 10 or 20 the day before or after. Also, always put up the no drinking under 21 signs in your house and play stupid if someone under 21 gets caught, and always cooperate. Not that hard. These kids are idiots.

Damn. We had a party my sophomore year and the cops showed up. Six of the seven roommates got a ticket for excessive noise (myself included) and that was that. Most people left and went to another house and some of us stayed and continued to drink.

That's an insane amount of fines and a bit ridiculous.

Although the party could obviously have been planned a bit better. But acting like the other party got a break by "only issued about $5,000" in tickets is dumb.

$28k per student? Yeah good idea, just have them tack an extra 30 grand on their loans to pay some dumbass fine. Fine them $1000 that will send a damn clear message without ruining their lives.

They won't be able to just tack that onto the loans. If they actually are made to pay the fines this is the type of thing that will make them have to drop out of college and they'll probably never get back to it. Then we get to pay for them. Hooray Wisconson police! You show those kids!
