jmog;510462 wrote:The National Research Council college PhD program rankings most certainly ranks Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering. Depending on which year you look at Akron U is either #1 or #2. University of Massachusetts at Amherst is always up there with them in the top 2.

Unfortunately their rankings are for purchase, not just listed out.
Yeah, we'll just go ahead and take your word for it then

Akron is what it is, a degree mill, nothing more, nothing less, just face it and stop pretending its any good at anything. You sound like people from Ohio University, "Oh but Ohio is #1 in journalism", ya, people just feel bad for OU because its worthless in everything else. LOL

The CBA at Akron will get you the highest return on tuition dollars(median salary) than any other public school in the state after graduation. The entrepreneur program is ranked top 25 in the U.S., and the accounting program is ranked 24th in the nation for undergrad studies, and 23rd for grad studies.

If you truly believe that, then go to Akron, just don't complain that all your friends who chose a different school have a nice job while you're stuck working the carryout window at your local McDonalds.

Convenient how you left out that its undergrad program is ranked 93rd in the country, 93rd? That's terrible. Also, the rankings you from some uber prestigious magazines and reports, really can't fault you there.

Its ranked 76th, reading comprehension must not be a requirement to attend OSU? I have many family members who went there for engineering, accounting, and teaching..all had jobs in place before they graduated. One is a CPA and owns their own business. Really though, I dont care what they are ranked, the only thing that matters to me is, on average, Akron graduates will make more money than OSU graduates coming right out of college.

I know I'm going to get blasted for this but I don't think it matters what school you go to, let me explain. I got my ME from the airpit of Ohio and a guy I work with got his from Purdue and guess what we both make the same amount of money. Although his degree cost about 10 times the amount mine did. So really what did he gain by going there other than a shit load of student loan debt?

I/ve got another example, a friend of mine from high school who got his 2 year degree in plastics back in "2000" is now pulling in $100K a year, oh ya thats not counting his bonuses either.

If your worried about getting a degree from a preceived lesser school then get your PE.

Yeah, I know. But sometimes he's so arrogant in his trolling that I actually believe him.

He probably doesn't even go to OSU.

OSU is a great school, I absolutely love it here, but its naive to think you can't get a better education, especially in certain specialties than at OSU.

As for the combo of sports, girls, social life, academics, research, opportunities available and the campus for the price? I don't think you can beat that.

Anecdotal examples aside (one of which I don't believe anyway), I'll bet you $100 that the average Purdue engineering grad makes substantially more than the average graduate of "Armpit U.".

Akron average salary: 43,102

http://fisher.osu.edu/offices/career-management/employer-resources/salary-data/

OSU average salary: 47,293

Ruined. And my bad, 93rd is from your wiki website link, 76th is a lot better than 93rd, good job.

You might be but then again this is the Internets and I can make stupid assumptions just like you. Please, in your first job interview, answer the questions like you do on here.

Why would I need a job interview? At Ohio State, we don't work for others, others work for us, and you can take that to the bank.

Hey moron, you are talking to a guy who started at Ohio State, had a 4.0 and transfered to Akron U to be in the chemical polymer engineering program. I know what I'm talking about when it comes to polymer engineering and chemical engineering.

I started my chemical engineering degree at OSU and transfered to Akron U to do chemical polymer engineering.

However, like I said, I wouldn't expect you to know jack crap about engineering.

I would expect you to keep on being a prick about things you don't know about however.

If you look back, I also did say that OSU was a better engineering school in every discipline OTHER than any versions of polymer science and polymer engineering. So stop getting your panties in a bunch.

If you look at the link, it clearly says 76th.
Also..
http://www.uakron.edu/cba/news-and-events/news-details.dot?newsId=1033438
"For UA, the rate of return is $5.14, based on annual tuition and fees of $8,382 and a starting salary of $43,102. The number crunching boosted UA to the top spot in Ohio, ahead of Ohio University (43rd), Bowling Green State University (46th), Ohio State University (51st) and Miami University (53rd)."

Also, I looked at the fisher college of business link..that poll was out of 136 people. Im sure that is real accurate

76th is still terrible, I'm not arguing that you're right about their ranking, I'm just not sure why you'd bring that up.

And that 136 people is for those that reported a signing bonus, not for the overall, but I don't expect you to understand it anyway.

So now for reality, you transferred to Akron because you couldn't hack it at OSU.

Cool story bro.

Moron, did you miss the part where I had a 4.0 at OSU? I know reading comprehension isn't your strong suit and all.
