this series might have the least amount of sex appeal with the media, but this could still be a very good series. Some good pitching matchups

Runs will be at a premium (duh) as both teams have been struggling to score recently. Derek Lowe was named NL Pitcher of the month for September going 5-0 with a 1.17 ERA for the month. Tim Hudson was named NL Comeback player of year after Tommy John surgery. Bobby Cox said that Eric O'Flaherty and Takashi Saito won't be on the NLDS roster. Jair Jurrjens is also not expected to be on the roster and rookie Brandon Beachy will be. Beachy was called up from AA the last week of September when Jurrjens hurt his knee and will be available out of the bullpen or to start game 4.

not sure Bobby really wants to start a rookie in Game 4, if it gets that far.
I love low scoring games where execution is at a premium, and that's the type of series this will be

Lowe has already started lobbying with Cox to pitch game 4. I could see Beachy getting a start IF the Braves have a 2-1 series lead. This would give Lowe full rest for game 5. But you are right, I don't see Beachy starting.

Atlanta has 7 rookies on the roster for this series. This may have been Bobby's best managerial job yet. A quarter of his playoff roster is rookies? Outside of Beachy, every one of them has played a lot and been a huge part of the reason the Braves hung on to the wild card. It will be interesting to see how they react. I'm really not concerned about Heyward or even Conrad, but more so the bullpen arms. If they are coming in to a tight game, it will be something to keep an eye on.

That inning looked familiar. Lead off double by Infante. Heyward can't get him over and Lee and McCann both chase balls in the dirt on full counts. Dammit.

McCann took a pitch he could've hit into the bay.....and then decided to do as the Reds

is that the number of whiffs for the number of innings?
Braves look much like the Reds attacking Halladay...will they adjust?

Eh. Cincy had best offense in the league. Braves have struggled to score last month.
Either one sucks.

IMO Derrek Lee is the best defensive 1st baseman in the NL...and has been since JT Snow quit playing.

Great job by Lowe getting out of that. Wouldn't mind seeing Heyward hit a line drive into the cove leading off the 2nd.
