The Rays on offense look like a Derrick Shelton coached team, tons of K's. Price wasn't sharp and seemed to pitch from behind all game with the exception of the 4th but he still gave up runs after K'ing the first 2 guys. That foul ball call on Pena with the bases loaded in the 1st may have been a game changer, Price could have been pitching with a lead. If the Rays can't generate any offense I am not too confident with Shields or Davis starting. Garza will always be a Jekyll and Hyde to me. He and Price get too amped up for important games and tend to be more wild and underperform.

Texas putting it on Tampa Bay again, leading 6-0 in the bottom half of the 5th. CJ Wilson is cruising for Texas... they are a dangerous ball club that I feel a lot of people have underestimated because they play in traditionally one of the weaker divisions in baseball

I'd like to see the winner of this series win it all. I think the Yankees will lay a beatdown on either of them though.

It's really bizarre seeing Texas winning games BECAUSE of pitching. Lee was very strong yesterday and Wilson has dominated so far. What happened to the old "we'll outscore you 13-11" Ranger teams we all knew and loved during the regular seasons and maybe one playoff series ever few years?

I wouldn't call it laying an egg necessarily. Cliff Lee is a beast, and starting Shields was just a stupid managerial decision. His ERA for the season was over 5 and his ERA in September was 7.00. Would have been more surprising if they had won today IMO.
David Price was disappointing yesterday, and the offense was disappointing today, but I don't think it's that surprising at all to see Texas up 2-0.

Oh I am not taking anything away from Texas. Just frustrated that the Rays strength has been pitching and in 10 innings the starters have given up 9 or 10 runs, not sure of the exact number. Shield has been terrible down the road as well as Davis and Niemann despite his nice relief outing last night. Small ball is crucial to their success and all these long swing strikeouts is painful to see.

I think the Rangers close this out today at home. Thoughts? Lewis is solid, record doesn't show it but he has a good ERA and good WHIP. I think that the crowd in Texas will help the Rangers. If the Rays want to win this they need to come out and get runs early, they have to be frustrated with the performance so far and.

Hard to pick against Texas when they have gotten solid pitching and they can score in bunches. Especially in their home stadium. Lately the Rays have not been doing any of that. Garza is a beast when he's on though so it won't be easy for the Rangers. I still have a glimmer of hope lol

Anyone watching this? Those last two pitches to Crawford were a good 6 inches off the plate. I thought that Questech system was supposed to hold umpires accountable for calling balls and strikes correctly.

Yes, that was pathetic. MLB.com shows both of them way outside, like 8' or more. You know the answr, use the electronics with a buzzer in the umps pocket that he raises his right hand when it goes off, then he can watch closer for foul tips, HBPs, and even check swings. I don't see why people are so against a fairer game that speeds up the game because the jawing about balls and strikes should go away!
