My friend had to return a phone back to verizon a while back. Anyhow, Verizon sent her something to package it in and prepaid it to fedex. So now Verizon is saying that she didn't return the original phone so they are billing her over $600. She says that she got a confirmation email from them, but she dropped verizon's internet in the last month, so she has no access to that email. What should she do? I told her to call Fedex's customer service, but is there anything else that can be done?

Did she keep the Fed Ex tracking number?

If Verizon has an account with FedEx, they would likely have some kind of insurance on prepaid shipping labels. I would talk to someone at FedEx and raise some hell.

nope...she has no info to offer other than her info...i.e phone number and address. Fed ex just told her that they cannot help her without the tracking number.

Verizon insures each return phone for $100. I have nine lines on my Verizon account and return a phone almost weekly.

I have never known verizon to be very helpful, so I don't know what she is going to do.

How did she return it? Did she drop it at a pack and ship place or package it herself and put it in a drop box?

A shipping confirmation from Verizon won't do much. She needs a tracking number from FedEx on the shipment from Verizon. Otherwise she will need to contact Verizon's tech support (good luck).

I think that the tech support is her only option...good luck indeed....
I hope she isn't fucked.....that is a lot of money for a phone.

Tech support cannot help her. She needs to file a claim with Fed Ex.

I agree with this. Unless Verizon's tech support would have a record of the shipping number for the label they sent her. She might be better off talking to someone in Verizon's shipping accounts department.

If Verizon is willing to admit that the prepaid package shipped they should be able to provide her with a tracking number....Unless they shipped it USPS (postal service - no tracking).

The returns do come with a Fed Ex return shipping label which would contain a tracking number. Good call Mohican and go Ashland U Baby.

I'm sure FedEx could figure out who was assigned to picking up packages from the drop box that day too. It wouldn't be surprising to find out that a driver would look at the label and see its going to Verizon and then help himself.

Verizon should have record of returning tracking number also. I know with UPS, they can find out the tracking to and from on returns. I'm sure the same will work for FedEx. Verizon needs to handle it.

Trust me, FedEx has driver malfeasance covered.

I was going to say this.
Verizon has to have record somewhere of what label was sent to mantooth's friend. They should be able to look it up in their system. If not, then they are an even worse customer service company than most say(even though I've never had a problem).

We've had contractors come in and steal shit. Lets just say, they didn't get away with it for long.

I don't doubt that they watch it. I know UPS does. Who do you mean when you say "we"?
