Today's action is why the Ryder Cup still remains golf's no. 1 attraction. Congrats Euros! The RW&B will be back strong in '12.

Sooo....

Tiger goes 3-1-0 and led the team(along with Stricker) in points for the weekend.
Phil goes 1-3-0 and scored a measly 1 point.

It's about time Tiger played like the #1 player in the world at a Ryder Cup.

If Phil would have played somewhere near the level of a top 50 player in the world the US would have won. Instead he played like a Hooters Tour rookie. There were others who didn't perform well also (Dustin Johnson), but FIGJAM is #2 in the world and has had numerous chances at supplanting Tiger. I believe it was first said on Friday by Paul Azinger, some players are born with the ability to play well in the Ryder Cup, some aren't.

I thought I had heard that there was a possibility that Westy would overtake Phil for #2 in the world after the Ryder Cup?? Probably misheard that though.

And I was right. Westy did overtake Phil as the #2 player in the world.

Tiger is going to have to start winning some tournaments if he wants to keep that #1 ranking.

Not because of play in the Ryder Cup right? Because of the rolling system they have for points?

I'm not sure to be honest. I just thought I had heard he was going to overtake him after the Ryder Cup.

Got ya. Phil had so many chances to take over #1 the last 3 months of the season. Crazy that he would drop a spot so quickly.

I do find it hard to believe the Ryder Cup would factor in to the world ranking though.

Yeah me too, when I first read that I thought maybe Johnny Miller had misspoken (again). I can't see how an event with only 24 players can impact the world rankings.

No he did not take over Phil because of the Ryder Cup. It was announced Monday morning when Westy was announced at hole 1.
