Whoa, $1.5 million in utility bills? It would seem that Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle are in need of some energy-savings upgrades, or that her Royal Highness is in need of some Snuggie upgrades.

Not a big deal. They were applying for a grant to upgrade the heating systems so that it wouldn't cost taxpayers as much. Didn't realize that the program they applied for is meant for low-income people. Embarrassing? Yep. Wrong? Absolutely not.

Still. They're applying for a grant to do some upgrades, but yet it is reported that they are planning on spending $40,000,000.00 on an upcoming wedding...
The money would still be coming from government funds (tax payer monies) regardless.
The Windsors are one of the most tight-clenching monarchies in history. I read once that when Princess Di started to actually spend time in one of the palaces, that the butler was wearing a uniform that was over 100 years old and had to be patched periodically.
They are a screwy bunch!
