Good call on the Perdomo O Trap. A friend of mine, who is not into cigars yet, was given two of the Perdomo Grand Cru 2004. He gave them to me and they were excellent. I checked the place where I buy my cigars and they don't carry Perdomo's. I'll have to look around more or get them online.

Currently up to around 35 to 40 sticks, thanks to NW Indians RAOK, but need a bigger humidor to house them. That will be my priority once I get home from vacation.

Every now and then, I come across a good Patel or something more common, but I have to say that I've never had a bad Perdomo, whether it was a $2.75 Fresco churchill or a $85 cuban Edicion salomon.

Been off and on 1-2 a week over the last 3 years or so. Great way to end the work week. Come home and have the appropriate scotch or brandy with a stick. No humidor yet. Generally buy as needed from a local shop that is excellent. I try to buy tubes in case I happen not to smoke right away.

Favorite by far is Partagas 1848.

O-Trap...anytime you want to herf it up...let me know. I am about 30-40 minutes from N. Akron so I would be willing to drive up that way to smoke a few with ya.

For those that don't know too much about cigars, check out the below sites:

www.cigar-mafia.com - Forum board very similar to this one, but to talk about cigars

www.cigarsinternational.com - Probably the single biggest Cigar store there is.

www.cigarbid.com - Ebay of Cigars (owned by Cigars International)

Try to stay away from Thompson's Cigars.

If you go to any Cigar Sites, you can usually get weekly emails from them telling you about different cigars that are coming out. My favorite is Jack Schwartz....a lot of good info comes through their emails.

As for the poster asking about good sticks for the Holidays, you should check out the Opus X line (if you can find them). Very good sticks. Anything Davidoff is usually pretty good, however, I think they are WAY over-rated and over-priced. Anything Padron is good and any A. Fuente's with the white or black stripe at the bottom of the label (Hemmingway, Don Carlos, etc.)

I like lighter cigars. Any recommendations?

for instance, my 2 favorites right now are the Java Corona, and Sancho Panza (though i only get the Panza's when i'm out of the country, for obvious reasons).

I have an awesome Pipe to sell you if you want to get into this. I got it in a trade for some cigars. I wanted to get into it but it was too much work for me. This specific pipe hasn't been smoked.

It is a nice Meerschaum pipe that looks like a dragon claw holding the bowl that kind of looks like an egg with golf ball dimples. I can post a pic if you are interested. I am looking to either get some goods cigars for it or like $30. It was made in Afghanistan or Iraq I believe and comes in a nice felt lined wooden box. Values at around $50-70.

When you're going for a light cigar, you typically don't want to give up a lot of flavor. This can be tricky, as MOST cigars that are less burly also have less flavor.

Here are your two basic options:

(a) Find an exception to the rule. These are VERY uncommon, and most of the mainstream brands will leave you wanting on flavor. Personally, the BEST one I've found that still bears a lot of the tobacco flavor without the harshness would be a little-known cigar called the Aristotle Philosopher. Sits very light. You won't be tasting it for a week. However, it still has a good bit of flavor. My biggest gripe against it is that it doesn't always burn even, and it's rolled pretty loosely, but the latter of those is a personal preference, and not a quality issue.

(b) Find a cigar that has been cured in something different. the Gurkha line comes readily to mind, as they are cured in Cognac. Light cigar, but PLENTY of flavor as a result of the Cognac taste. Others would be anything light that is barrel-cured (sometimes called 'Cask-Cured'). I suppose there are still other options in this as well, but they don't come to mind off-hand.

Admittedly, though I smoke a pipe, I always base the tobacco I buy on smell at the time, and I rarely even ask or know anything about it.

I'll let you know when I've got an evening to light one up. Might be chilly, though.

Crazy- The Macanudo Hyde Park is the most dependable mild smoke in the world, albeit a bit overpriced. Per Otrap's the "look for something cured a bit different, the Licenciados Toro was a CA 93 years ago and is still quality at $4-5 a stick. Candela wrapper, mild but very unique flavor.

I do enjoy a Hyde Park, but I agree. It's not justifiable unless you have cash to burn.

I have to admit, I'm not familiar with Licenciados. Where is the tobacco grown?

Why was this moved to the BST forum? There's no selling on the thread, is there?

EDIT: Now it moved back? WTF?

Like I mentioned earlier my sister got me a very nice humidor, was a $300.00 one that she got on close out where she works. My old Boss got me a travel container that has a cutter and ligher with it. He also included a CAO NX2, a Romeo Julieta Cedro Deluxe no.2, and a RP Cargo. I've never had the Cargo.

Still trying to get the humidor to 70%...any hints ???

In addition to the humidifiers, I also wet a clean sock in distilled water and put it in a sandwich bag and place it in the corner of the humidor. I actually have issues with keeping it low enough.

How many days did you season your humidor?
