It looked to me like they missed a lot of holding calls.

Missed calls against big red, or mass, or both?

I talked to a neutral observer about this, and he said that while they missed some stuff both ways, it had no bearing on the outcome. Big Red turnovers (and perhaps some questionable goal line playcalling) were the factor in this one.

Glad this game was decided by the kids!

That is weird you say questionable play-calling because so many Big Red fans say they have the best coaching staff in the state, very interesting!

Big Red defense is tough. I'll be honest we had two fleeflicker TD's. But also we were down our top two tailbacks and a starting MLB.

When Alex Winters is back and if he is healthy watch out because he is a stud and will be a spark plug.

Yeah, I can't really prove or disprove it, but what they told me was Big Red kept lining up to try to pound it in, and it just wasn't working on this Massillon team and they wouldn't go away from it.

Good to have another Tiger over here 27, I prefer Reiman to Winters, though it's good to have both. My feeling is that Alex hasn't run the same since the injury last year. Jake runs hard every play, has better speed than people give him credit for, and has a killer spin move. Winters seems to have run a little timid since returning. As far as the Steubenville turnovers, let's give a little credit to Massillons D, those were created by some pretty darn hard hits.

High school football teams from PA, WV, NY, and Michigan are not even close to Ohio High school football!

Also, Winters has played well at safety, the injury hasn't seemed to affect him on that side of the ball. As far as missing a LB, I agree, missing who we did was a big hit to the D, (No need to mention the names of players who are currently injured, so I won't), but the earlier injury to our other LB has given Booch Haring an opportunity that he has made the most of.

Congratulations to Massillon! They were the better team tonight! Thank you Skank & Coyote22 for being such great hosts! I had a really great time despite the outcome of the game. I wish all games had that type of atmosphere! I know Olak & Smith are the big names for Massillon, but I was really impressed with Kepmt and Kentrell Taylor! I'm pretty sure we're going to be hearing a lot from these two in the future!!

I wish all fans were like Big Red fans, they never rub in a victory to anyone, and always give the team that beats them credit! Sounds like this was a great high school football game.

Actually, it was a pretty horrible game, imo. I didn't think either team played particularly well. Massillon took advantage of the many opportunities that were afforded them and, for that, they absolutely deserved the victory. But, my goodness... That was one ugly game.

The atmosphere was pretty cool, though... A huge crowd on both sides and it was pretty loud for the duration. If we play like that next week, we will be in big trouble against Ursuline, as well. Thankfully, I doubt we have two games like that in us..... I can only hope.

Good luck the rest of the way, Tigers.

Congrats to the TIGERS on being the better team tonight! You cant win win 5 turnovers and not scoring in the red zone that many times. WOW that 1st play of the game really set the tone!

Congrats to Massillon . The first play was brilliant. The big pass after the long injury timeout was brilliant. You guys put the hat on the ball and stripped our wideout. We made a ton of mistakes but you helped exploit a serious weakness in our game . The fireworks were a very nice touch. Your town is crazy about its football team and you deserve to be very proud. I am bitter I wanted to put a dagger in your hearts as you have done to our uncles and fathers and grandfathers many times ,but I saw first hand why it is so hard to do . I hope we meet again and with a Big Red victory ofcourse. But This game is yours enjoy the victory.

As a moderator, I would like to commend everyone on coming back tonight and responding with class. With the teams involved having such large and emotionally attached fanbases, and the result being somewhat surprising, I was expecting some fireworks on this thread this evening (from both sides) and have come away presently surprised thus far.

Great job, and I wish both teams the best (unless we play Big Red in the playoffs again :p)

Next week is going to be a snober knocker! Ursuline is fast can pass and they have a defense that is second to none! big red needs to shake this loss. I'm a neutral. but I'm from the Mahoning Valley. But I'm a Campbell memorial red devil fan! I should go with my area team but I'm not for parochial schools. they have took many players from us over the years. Mooney took Derril Johnson and ursuline had a couple. so good luck red.

You are correct. Fact is, we couldn't go away from it. Several of our prime receivers were injured for this game and if you were there you would have seen how poor the passing game was. Second line receiver caught a good pass and run but could not hold the ball; he had it stripped. QB threw one pass directly at a defensive man that went for a touchdown.
Several runs broke out for sure scores but got run down from behind. When you become one dimentional, you will not win many games playing good teams.
Massillon played a great game: quick and intense.
Reno emphasized two things for this week: protect the ball and play physical. We played physical, but with six fumbles, we obviously did not protect the ball.
That's it in a nutshell. Massillon played a great game and hat's off to them. I hope the young man who looked as though he sustained a leg fractue, is doing better.

I also wanted to comment on the atmosphere that Massillon supplied so generously. The fireworks were awesome.I hope we can get some when Big Red scores at home.I think the only think left to outdo that is to have Ernie do his flyover. No but seriously I felt like I was in a dream.Nice going Massillon!!!!

After Pierros first pass I said "Man they're going to miss Macon this year". You guys were way more balanced last year with him.

Crazy train after the game hahahahah Man they really rubbed our noses in it . You guys pulled a Big Red on us . We got knocked down a few pegs. 36-0 in the reserve contest as of a few minutes ago by Massillon . Freshman are getting ready to go . My nephew is on frosh team . We have a couple of studs and We will take the frosh game . I guess that will be our consolation prize . Sad very sad. Hopefully next year we wont choke again but we had a chance to really hurt you guys and we failed . I may be coming up to the McKinley game .
