Here's what you do son:
1. Go to doctor
2. Tell him you want a cheaper GI medicine because prilosec is too expensive now and you're too big of a pain in the ass to just get the OTC.
3. He writes you a prescription for a cheaper GI medicine, one that you can get from Kroger for $4/$10. -- A quick list would include Deprizine, Tagamet, etc. They all do the same thing.
4. You take said prescription down the street to Kroger and get your supply without paying much.
5. You temporarily, possibly suffer from headaches while your body adjusts to the meds.
6. You feel better and leave me alone.

Apparently you missed the part where I mentioned I had generics of said medicine. I can buy the NAME BRAND stuff over the counter AT CVS for cheaper than what they want at the pharmacy for the generic stuff.

Dustin, you're not allowed to call me gay, it's against the rules...similar to how I'm not allowed to call you Dustin.

Today at CVS I found capsules of omeprazole in a bonus pack 42 caps for like $15.89. It was a bonus pack, 42 for the price of 28. It may not be available every single day, but it was today. I found them for a little old lady who had lost her $10 prescription of the same, and insurance would not allow another. How friendly.

Maybe it is cheaper somewhere else, but 42 for 16ish didn't sound too bad. I just wish someone would have gotten the idea before you had gotten the rx, as we try to catch those things on a daily basis.

Omeprazole ='s Prilosec.

And yes, w/o insurance just buy the shit OTC.

I'm a pharmacist intern and deal with this shit all the time.

I didn't read the entire thread, but if you would have told them AT THE TIME of calling in the script, it would have saved everybody a lot of time.

I had purchased some crappy insurance in the meantime until I can jump back onto my dad's again. I assumed the generics wouldn't be over $20-30 in the event that my insurance didn't cover the prescriptions at all (which they don't)

I bought some generics online. I got some ridiculous amount for $20.

several gaps in logic that always surprise me...

1. "Hmmmmm, medicine cost me more when I dont have insurance, now me way pissed off...hmmm...insurance must pay som of cost of medicine"...and all of our premiums underwrite the apparent obstinant refusal for you to just go and buy some Prilosec OTC off the shelf, which is the same dam stuff......

2. "me think that medicine should be cheap or free because it is medicine"; because I want to save all my money for cigarettes and liquor. I am willing to pay full price for those, however, and there are apparently no generics for Cuervo.

....what? I was under the assumption that generic prescriptions would be cheaper than the stuff off of the shelf. I was wrong. What is the mistake in that?

It doesn't take a genius to know that name brand stuff is more expensive, but these were generics that had their patent expire in 2001...

Oh the irony, telling others to grow up while you stereotype people who complain about medicine prices as more concerned with buying cigarettes/alcohol. Be honest, though. What in life has happened to you for you to feel that way? I'm curious.

My acid reflux would have to be of biblical proportions before I ever paid that kinda money for it. I'd go as far as esophageal tears from the acid.

Have BHO call CVS and tell them to shove their OTC up their ASS.
