What not to say to a Police Officer

1. Don't argue
2. Don't lie
2a. Don't talk over the Officer
3. Stay calm
3a. Don't make any quick movements
3b. Don't open the glove box
4. Don't boast about who you know
5. Never try to make a bribe.

Another one I'd add and should probably be #1 thing to do is always address them as Sir/Ma'am or Officer.

When those headlights go on, it's best to pull the car to the right, stay in the car, turn the interior lights on if it's dark and put your hands on the steering wheel.

Don't make any quick movements, and don't turn to grab your purse or put your hands in your pocket or under your seat to retrieve your license -- until the officer instructs you to. Then, do it slowly.

Don't move to open the glove box either, until directed. And do that slowly, too. Let the police shine a light inside the box before you reach in. Many criminals hide guns in glove boxes.

"What's going to cause the situation to get worse is for the fear factor to rise in that officer," Koep said. "The officer is more likely to cut you a break as long as you can reduce that fear. …If you're friendly with me, not arguing or denying what happened, that lowers the fear factor and will make me a lot more cooperative with you."
I always put my hands on the steering wheel and wait for the cop to come up. If they ask me for something, I tell them it's in the glove box and ask if it's ok if I get it. I agree with a lot of that article. When you get pulled over, you still have rights, but most of the time the cops are just trying to do their jobs and there's no reason to make it any harder for them. At least if they have a reason to pull me over. I have been pulled over before for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, and I let the cops frisk me and search my car. Afterwards I was a little pissed off/embarrassed and wish I had respectfully declined.

My last 2 posts were about cops that actually did something good and commendable. Something that didnt disgrace the or dishonor the badge on their chest. To say someone is a cop hater due to the actions of one of the groups is laughable and as ignorant as the people here.

And no one said game developers are as pure as the pope, I sure didnt.

Where do some of you dumb fuckers get the shit you say sometimes?

The thing is that whatever he does doesn't give him the ability to strip others of their rights/lives if he abuses his position. Cops/judges/prosecuters can which is why when they are doing terrible things it's so much worse.

A mistake is leaving the oven on, locking your keys in the car, not putting the toilet seat down. Cops who pull shit like that are fully aware of what they are doing.

I just read a story about a cop that was doing 126 mph while on the phone and he crashed into a car and killed 2 girls and now the guy is asking for workers comp. Pieces of shit like that didnt "make a mistake"
