Boy, all these teams whining about having to play sophomores on defense........try you starting QB! haha. Kyle is maturing very well....just got to get a handle on those int's. Love the confidence Coach Davault has in him especially in the 4th quarter. I think he is handling our young QB very well. When we finally went to a no-back set to spread Lex out is when we finally had our mismatches. What I would like to see out of that set in the future is when we break the huddle have Kyle at a slot and direct snap to Tre or Mason for a run play all the way. Last year with Joey we had that option with him always. Not sure Kyle is durable or fast enough yet for that.

I am only 19 years old but I remembered Mr. Harper immediately when Coach Knight spoke him and I am sure all of my friends do too. Coach Fields and Coach Harper ran the junior dribblers program at the Boys and Girls Club for us growing up when we were in 1st and 2nd grade. For a lot of the kids my age, they provided the first basketball instruction they ever recieved. Coach Harper would always tell us, you don't need a basketball to work on defense, you can play "alleyball" with a friend walking down the sidewalk! Also, you shouldn't shoot threes until middle school because your body isn't strong enough and it will ruin your form. He then reffed our 3rd and 4th grade games, if the better players didn't pass the ball around and work on their total games, Coach Harper would make them sit on the bench until they changed their attitudes on team ball. Coach Harper always said hi when I would see him at games or around town. Nice that he gets some credit.

We did try it with our qb. Marcus Fuller, three year starter for the Arrows. We aren't whining about sophomores just acknowledging that we were playing without a few starters not just Wooster without one. They met our varsity offense but jv defense. Anyways, sophomores become seniors in a blink of the eye and that gives us something to smile about.

Yes Sinister....here is a post I made in reference to another on the OCC thread....

"streaks man nothing..Ashland has had dynamite teams. The year they struggled , '08, was when they took their lumps with a sophomore QB named Fuller. Guess who is a Senior leader this year? Guess who is now starting a Soph QB? Orrville. We are not exactly taking our lumps because we have a strong supporting cast, but he is still a soph. Quite a bit of our success or failure will be determined by How well the QB grows into the position. Going into week 5 I am quite impressed with his progress. Another big test this week. We have a very very good total team defense against run or pass that is carrying our team thru the rough patches....that is a good thing. Good Luck Riders"

I made the post you are referring to as a lighthearted response to both team's posters.

Saw that....we were thinking the same thing just on different threads at different times. Seasons seem to come and go quickly. Things and thoughts that make a poster crazy seem irrelevant the next week. We have a fun conference and are lucky to have "fights" every year. These boys provide us with much entertainment no matter which team you root for. Post season comes and we all support each other. Fun times.

100% agree sinister. We have a great Conference....rivalries pop up every year...we have been able to witness some top caliber athletes and will continue that now and in the future. We have some phenomenal coaches and great fan support. Although everything not perfect, we are very fortunate here in the OCC. And yes it is nice come the end of the year we don't need to battle each other again in the playoffs.......except CF and the Riders...we can't seem to ignore each other haha.

RR1: thanks for the wmfd link to the post game interview with Coach D and highlights. It was part of today's Current Events class curriculum!

Glad I could help.

Wish I could do online radio broadcasts of every Red Rider game. That would be fun. I've always known I have a face for radio. :)

Mr. Miyagi thinks you should teach the difference of what a winning tradition is (Orrville) and just a tradition is (Genoa) in current events/history class
Mr. Miyagi says good luck this week Riders .........hit hard and score often

What is this...the 3rd week in a row where we've had no interaction from our opponent's fanbase?

Getting a little boring......thus the Region 14 thread.

We face more of a power back in Dorsey from Senior this week. Strong runner, good drive in his legs. Statistically speaking I would have to think our defense is giving up on average thru 4 games less than 100 yards per? That is admirable remembering we have replaced the entire front 3 and no more Chase Hoobler. We will get Dillon Lemmon back this Monday, which will add another big time hitter to that defensive squad and help down the stretch. RR1 you are the number guru.....am I close?

Looks like the Region 14 thread has calmed down a little bit. Some of those comments from Genoa posters were just unbelievable! There used to be some pretty cool Mansfield posters, namely coacheswife and Malabar10.

Orrville freshman football team was robbed of OVER $1000 DOLLARS WORTH OF ELECTRONICS at todays game!!

Classy folks you got over there. Its time to get them out of the league. This is not the first time it has happened either.

Thats as low as it gets....the problem with our entire country...thugs and worthless folks with no morals at all....punks!!!!

It happens every year. But nothing is done about it, that is why I never took electronics to away games.

Its time for a change of some sorts.

Maybe, but sadly so, we need to take an off-duty police officer to sit in the locker room because apparently Senior just leaves it unlocked and its a free-for all. Almost like a flee market but everything is a "5 finger discount" for the custodian or someone who has the key.

...way to go Senior! You proved once again to be the cl.ASS of the OCC!

Pretty sad. When the adults don't step up, that;s what happens. Simple solution: someone guards the locker room..... preferably one of us!

Solution: me and 4ringz guard the locker room. End of problem! ;-)

Seriously, WE should have a locker room attendant at ALL times. Most of us are very trusting and then we get "burnt"
