PS3 Problem

Was playing a guy in NCAA online and the screen froze. I turn off the system turn it on and now no game disk appears in the XMB. Took NCAA out, put Battlefield in, same thing no disk appears. Doesn't appear to be making a sound...am I fucked?

Do you have a yellow light? How long has the PS3 been on..Could be over heated.

Could be just overheated, not to sure. I would turn the PS3 off for a bit and try it in about 30 minutes. Try a BluRay

Doing a full restore, it sounds like it might be the blu ray player if so its either $150 and two weeks for a refurb or pick up a new one. This ones 3 years old

That happened to me with GTA. Had to send it in and pay $150. Sorry man that sucks.

Its 3 years old, the refurb ill get for 150 will only have a 90 day warranty plus ill be out for 2 weeks...thinking about just buying a new one or seeing if there is a used one at the local gamestop

Looks like it might be as simple as replacing the laser drive. They're going for $45 on eBay with the "brown" chip. Plus its in Akron so if I go that route should have it in a day or so. Anyone ever heard of replacing this?

Never tried.... You might fix it but might be putting money down the drain. Get it repaired and while waiting for repair go buy a new ps3 at walmart and play while you wait and return new ps3 when you get old ps3 back.

Just dusted off my PS3 and got Red Dead Redemption finally and its working just fine. Have watched some blu-rays but haven't played a game on it for a few months, it will get more use as the weather turns crappy.

Sony wants $150 and 2 weeks
Move bundle came out today with 360GB PS3 and Move plus the sports game. $400..decision time

I had a buddy who sent his in for 150 then just went out and bought the new one and sold one on ebay. Came out +200 or something like that.

If I buy a new one for $300 while I send one in for $150 thats $450. I don't think I can sell a $300 PS3 for $450 so at best I am out $150 if I can sell one for the same price someone can go to Wal Mart and get it for.
