Favor home cooked meal

Home cooked meal would be defined as the meal that is a standard with in your family menu.

One of my favorite is:
Swiss steak (sliced round steak rolled in flour) slow cooked 2 ½ hours in thick gravy (beefy onion soup mix, chopped onion, 1 cup water and ¼ cup kitchen bouquet) with sliced onion and fresh mushroom. Mash potatoes made with heavy cream and butter, and corn (can or fresh)

Sometimes I add corn bread….

In the Belly family this meal is a once a month standard…

we have three family meals. swiss steak pretty much just like belly's recipee but a few less onions and lot more garlic lol. Every sunday we have chicken been that way since i was a young kid. We kill the chicken sunday morning it soaks in buttermilk all day and gets fried that night. Usually its two chickens now that the family is bigger. the other is stuffed pork chops its about three times a month. dont know the recipe but they are good.

We eat steak at least once a week, sometimes twice. Normally Delmonicos or strips from the meat market down the road. During Summer we have corn on the cob every weekend and usually some kind of potato. The only things we eat on a regular basis are from the grill. Everything else is just here and there.

We do get pizza once a week usually...but that's obviously not home cooked.

Buttermilk Fried Chicken is my answer. Throw in some red roasted garlic potatoes, corn on the cob, and biscuits. It doesn't get much better than that!

Spaghetti and meatballs (homemade pasta and sauce that cooks all day). Salad: Tomatoes and green peppers fresh from the garden with sweet onions marinated in olive oil and balsamic vinegar with garlic and fresh basil (don't forget crusty bread for dippin'!) and add some mozzerella slices if you'd like. Desert: Homemade shortcake or vanilla ice cream topped with fresh sliced peaches marinated overnight in a little brandy and sugar and smothered in whipped cream. The plus side of making homemade sauce? Sauce sandwiches!!

Or: Meatloaf with mushroom gravy, scalloped potatoes, garden salad and Pillsbury crescent rolls.

chicken and noodles over mashed potatoes with a piece of bread and butter....... Had this last week for lunch a small restaurant in a little town. That meal brought back some memories from when I was younger.
