I've seen Big Red play both games and I saw Brooke play Parkersburg. I will predict that Big Red wins 21-7. It won't be a blowout and it probably won't be a shutout, but Big Red should take them.

Big Red will have to look sharper offensively than we did against McKeesport, and Brooke will have to be prepared to face the toughest defensive team that they have seen in many years.

I dont know how banged up we are #77 was hurt early and played with a limp the whole game , and #71 got hurt as well so thats 2 lineman banged up What is their status for next week ?
Brooke will be no pushover . They are back . This coach is the real deal we are in for a big fight and I know the Brooke faithful will invade Harding with thousands of fans for this one because they no they are back and now they want us, you better believe that . This may turn into the next Wintersville rivalry .

Boy wouldn't that be great for a team to compete and stay on the schedule. A real Valley rivalry.

If anyone seen the physical stature of McKeesport in person they wouldn't even have predicted a Big Red win, much less a blow out. A neutral observer probably would have picked the Tigers to blow out Big Red.

Do you older guys remember Brooke from the 70s and 80s ?
Brooke was the only area team on TV because West Virginia let HS teams on tv during the playoffs .
Brooke was ranked in the top 25 USA today twice in the 80s .With the help of Intellegencer sports writer Doug Huff. Big Red was consistantly ignored even when we had some really great teams.
Big Red won the 84 state title yet Brooke was handed the OVAC crown even though Big Red had beaten Central Wintersville Bellaire East Liverpoll and Cambridge. Dont know what the excuse was back then but more bias againt the Big Red .
I went to Brooke vs Central and Wintersville games and heard many times bring on Big Red and Big Red is affraid to schedule us even though we tried in the 80s their people insisited it was always us that dodged them .

They were the media darlings and favoured by the MIGHTY OVAC I still think a debt is left unpaid . I know this coach of theirs is a nasty one and I like it . That means this Brooke team is coming and they are not going to be intimidated . Be ready for some football again this week another hard hitting game.

Brooke was a hated rival for Wintersville back in the day. They were more hated than Central and some even would have rather beat them than Big Red. Very cocky group. As soon as the bus crossed the bridge we got pelted with rocks and eggs. It was on!
In 82 Brooke lost in the State finals and at their homecoming game to The Wintersville Golden Warriors! That was a great feeling.

For those of you who are going to say be humble and all that crap save it for someone else.I am not the reason for BIG REDS success.This is an opinion.So why all the hype about Brooke being back.I know that Bruney is a great coach an all but Brooke is still not even close to the level of BIGRED.This game I think will not be close.If someone can make a good arguement I'll listen and learn.

Just imo I think Brooke will play with us for at least three quarters!! They do have a new,good coach,and this is a rival game!! They are a good football team... I don't think they are as fast or as physical as us,but I do think they will come to play... This is just my opinion.. I don't want to overlook any team,and I know our boys are not overlooking Brooke!! Reon won't let them!!! RRR

IMHO BR will have lots of subs by late 2nd- early 3rd quarter .... I will say something like 35 - 7 maybe 14

LOL Yep and there is a simple reason that Sports Illustrated had a big article in it about Big Red being jipped the OVAC title after winning a Ohio State title that year. The OVAC Is now and always has been set up in advatage towards WVA teams and specifically Steubenville . Dont try and tell me otherwise. In 84 Central , Wintersville and Bellaire and either Cambridge or EL all had winning records .

I am not pressed . I am trying to get people excited about this game. I could actually care less about that bogus championship. I think it was a slap in our face back then as it has been several other times . Like when we beat Park by 70 and they win the title . Hey if they "the OVAC" wants to be a feel good organisation and give out hollow titles good for them they must have some ACLU members is all I know .
I just want younger people to know the bias and disrespect that Big Red was given back then . Lets get fired up for this game . It will not be a walk in the park . I like this Brooke caoch he is a nasty one . Be ready for a grinder.

This game won't be close even if the scoreboard says so. Didn't get to see wk 2 but even if the SHS offense struggles somewhat, this Brooke team still has not seen a defense like Big Red's. And IMO, Big Red shouldn't have any trouble running the ball as I imagine they will be able to push Brooke around. I don't think Brooke has the strength/conditioning to last too long in this game.

I really don't see Brooke being able to handle the speed/physical play of the Big Red D, so it's possible that even if the score is within 10-14 pts the game will be dominated by Big Red as they smother the Bruin offense and pound the ball, controllng clock.

I hope you are right but I disagree with you . Our subs wont get in this game . Maybe at the very end .
Our offense had problems and I think Brooke will put 8 in the box and make us pass . If our wideouts are superior than there Db's and our qb has time I think we will have some big pass plays > I think Brooke is going to be 8 in the box and blitz until we loosen them up . Brooke will also bring several thousand people to the game to neutralize the home field effect . All the Big Red people seem to know this gamr is in the bag so they will be sitting on hands and maybe not coming to the game and catching it on TV9 .
"just kidding" Should be a sellout . This coach of Brooke impresses me I really think he is a very talented coach . He took them last year from scratch and did what he did . I can tell he has an edge and I think he is very very competetive . BE READY Im telling you all .

The OVAC points are up now....guess who's in 1st? Brooke! And Morgantown second. Big Red is third. I guess Parkersburg and P. South are worth more in that great OVAC point system than Inkster and McKeesport.

That's what's wrong with the whole thing....you could beat the number one team in the nation, but get less points than someone beating John Marshall.

The thing is with the OVAC . They give these WVA schools Steubenville's rightfully deserved titles . These schools put these banners up on the gymnasium wall and for the last 40 years or so have cheated Steubenville probably out of 20 of these banners. People come into your gymnasium and see all these great awards and think wow your school is really acomplished . The system is geared towards an enrollment type system wich the biggest class AAAA has all WVA schools in it because they enroll entire counties . If you look at the lower classes AAA AA and A they are more even because those are mostly city or town schools . All the huge schools in the OVAC are WVA schools . The system su### and I believe they know what the hell they are doing . I dont want the Red to play all OVAC teams and they shouldnt have too . As far as Im concerned I think the Red should have along time ago told the OVAC to shove it . They are so biased its unbelievable .

I've said it before and I'll say it again.I just don't see the importance of winning an OVAC banner.Could you see a bigred fan coming on here bragging up an OVAC title.I say screw em.There are bigger and better things to worry about. Regarding the brooke game though.I work with a couple of those fans and one even made a bet with me that big red would not be winning by 21 at half.The funny thing about it is these folks talk about how surprised they were that belaire beat John marshall.That's all fine and everything but when I talk about mooney or IGGY they don't know who those teams are.My point is they live in a different hs football reality.A totally different level.
