We've lost 2 dogs ourselves in the last year...a Golden Retriever that was 16 and not even 2 months after we had to put him down, his little buddy died, a mutt that was 14. Almost lost one of our Husky's early this spring to Parvo as well. It's hard losing a pet, that's for sure. But at least you know it's coming so you will be a little ready for it I guess.

His leg is giving him fits today. He was way to active on it yesterday at the vet. I feel terrible! I think he is enjoying his pain pills though, seems kinda loopy. I am hoping later than sooner but I think it's going to be sooner. Damn this sucks. Running like a champ one day, down and out the next!!

A truly out of character post from the Bomber..........
Fab, I have been though this and it ain't pretty. But believe this when I say, It will be much harder on you then it will be on your pal.
Enjoy the days you have left and celebrate them. There are still good times left for both of you. Your buddy will let you know when it is time.
Until then keep yourself and your friend comfortable and have as much fun as you can.

I've had to put one of my dog's down before and it is one of the saddest things I have done. I chose to hold her when the vet administered the shot, I wanted her last moments to be with someone she loved and that loved her. Good luck with everything Fab.

It really hit me hard last night while laying on the floor with him watching the football game. He fell again trying to go outside and he is now all but deserted the use of his leg. We are planning on Friday being the day but man I'm a wreck it really hit me hard last night!! Took a pic with the ol guy last night:

I am probably the only other chatter member to have the pleasure of meeting Buckeye. Great dog, i wish you the best, have definately been there. Had to put down a 15 year old brittany spaniel due to him losing the use of his back legs. Itll be all good man. No dog will ever be the same as him but get you a puppy soon after. He will be so ornery you wont have time to think about buckeye lol.

Total bummer man ... take solace in the fact that you will be there with him at the end. I am still pissed at my parents for putting my childhood dog to sleep while I was away in Ohio, then telling me after the fact.

Well tonight the ol boy and I will be enjoying our last football game together
. I am beyond devastated about tomorrow. My girl and I are camping out on the living room floor tonight with him and are just going to love and treat him all night. Getting up in the morning and going to go get him a good breakfast and hop him up on his pain pills. He will head to the vet at 1145am where my ol friend will no longer suffer!!

Bummer. Sorry to hear this. If some people were a little more like our pets we would be in a better world.

That really sucks. Sorry to hear about all of it. But he will no longer be in pain, though. He lived a great life and positively affected many people, from the sound of it. You can be proud of your buddy!

Well I wish I could say its not going to be too bad but that'd be a lie. You'll be miserable for awhile.

I know! Let me ask you this, did you got into the room with him while it happened? I am 95% sure I am going to, my girl doesn't want to but said she would just to be by my side. I am not not fully sure I want that as my last memory but then again just dropping him off and him watching me walk away from him is unsettling as well.ZWICK 4 PREZ;476913 wrote:Well I wish I could say its not going to be too bad but that'd be a lie.
