With winning comes popularity. Umm Cleveland Cavs? Talk about a hypocrite. Also....nice dig at the colors....you're team is called the BROWNS.

lmao....Angry old men crack me up!

Old, probably compared to you. Bitter? No. Just giving the facts. And using the Cavs hardly helps your argument here since you're right -- they did have a huge bandwagon fan base. Just like the Steelers.

Funny coming from someone who's colors are pumpkin and shit. I was 7 when I first started following the Steelers in 1970. Suppose that makes me a bandwagon fan.

By the way, the biggest supporter the Browns had during those final Modell years was none other than the Rooneys and the Steelers.

If you want to find someone to bitch at about the series record not being reset with the new Browns, look no further than Clevelanders, who insisted on keeping the colors, name, and records of the Browns and not starting fresh.

Writer, I COMPLETELY disagree with you about the passion towards this team.

This team is called the CLEVELAND BROWNS.

The teams that won all those NFL championships were called the CLEVELAND BROWNS.

Jim Brown played for the CLEVELAND BROWNS.

Jake Delhomme plays for the CLEVELAND BROWNS.

I feel the same way towards this team as I did when we got moved. I love this team to death no matter what, and if there's any ignorance on your thread, its from you saying that you don't feel the same way towards this team as you did before.

So because Pittsburgh became successful in the 70s all fans are now bandwagoners? lol....like I said....bitter. I don't blame you though....it must be pailful being a fan of Cleveland sports.

Personally I didn't have a choice....Pittsburgh football was all I knew growing up. I really didn't know anything about the Browns.....that is what you call irrelevant.

Your obvious ignorance about the NFL doesn't mean the Browns were ever irrelevant.

Ihslep, I'm not the only long-time Browns fan that has had trouble recapturing the passion I once had for the NFL and the Browns. Losing the team that way and having no football you cared about for those years really did take the buzz off what used to be my most beloved sports team. You can't go without something for several years and not lose at least a little bit of that edge, imo.

Don't get me wrong: I still follow the Browns and want them to win, but whereas I would never think of missing a game in the past (and didn't) there have been more than a few games since the return I've simply not made an effort to see (not all games are shown in Columbus). I would say that maybe the passion will come back if we have more success to fuel the fire, but I don't see it happening. I'll be very happy they're winning (when that happens again) but I don't see it being like it was -- ever. I honestly hope I'm wrong.

In the same way that I love fans who feel I should be aligned with teams from a city I have no real history (ie: family ties or anything resembling a personal connection) with and have only visited a tiny handful of times...just because it's in the same state as I reside?

From Wiki:
Browns Backers clubs can be found in every major city in the United States, and in a number of military bases throughout the world, with the largest club being in Phoenix, Arizona. In addition, the organization has a sizable foreign presence in places as far away as Egypt, Australia, Japan, and Sri Lanka. According to The Official Fan Club of the Cleveland Browns, the two largest international fan clubs are in Alon Shvut, Israel and Niagara, Canada, with Alon Shvut having 129 members and Niagara having 310.
Fuckin' global bandwagoner groups... SMH... Breaking the sacred laws of state lines and EVEN national boundaries! OH THE HUMANITY!!!!

Please point out the ignorance. Just because I'm not over 60 doesn't mean I'm clueless. I'm quite aware of the history of both Cleveland and Pittsburgh.

lol I get a kick out of these retarded comments.

I've been to Cleveland twice in my life and I live 40 min from Pittsburgh. I have zero ties in Cleveland. Do you Cleveland die hards need me to post a map of Ohio? Or does that even matter? Imaginary line is the only thing to follow...correct?

Consider yourself fortunate.

Always love those who think an imaginary line is more important than distance to a city. I bring it up every time this stupid argument is brought up but if this was the case, everyone in NYC MUST be a fan of the Buffalo Bills since they are the only team in New York State because that invisible line down the Hudson prevents them from being a fan of a team 10 miles away.

This also must include those idiots in Erie, PA who aren't automatically Pittsburgh fans, and instead are Bills fans and fans of the Pumpkin and Shit.

You misunderstood my statement. I said irrelevant pertaining to me....irrelevant to me. My entire family is Pittsburgh everything.....all stemming from ties with Maz.

And right now....on the grand scheme of things....yes they are irrelevant.

I remember how when the Browns came back in 1999 that the Browns/Ravens rivalry was pretty heated and bitter, obviously having to with the whole Modell situation . It seems to me that as more time passes this rivalry becomes less intense.

While the game may be less intense because basically no players on either side were involved in the move -- the hatred for Modell is as strong as it's ever been.

When he dies, I guarantee you there will be more than a few parties in Cleveland.

I understand what the bitter old man is saying about this Browns team. I absolutely hated the Browns during the 80s...(ironically because of all the bandwagon fans for "DAWGS" ..laughable) But this new team, although I won't cheer for them often....I don't despise the Browns....(of course if they ever win again...I will probably hate them too) I actually feel sorry for Browns fans...and usually cheer for them against the Ravens....

You cheer for (and always have been and always will be loyal to) a franchise that has been successful for the better part of the last 40 years.....you MUST be a bandwagonner. That's the ONLY logical explanation. Got it. Thanks.

To address the thread question....I hate 'em all. Ravens, Browns, Bengals.

Precisely. It's always amusing when people are either too stubborn to admit or too stupid to realize that a large number of the actual bandwagon Steelers fans probably are the same people that were singing "Bernie, Bernie" the last time Cleveland was the better team for any noticeable length of time.

Let's face it, kids...there's a lot of legit Browns fans and a lot of legit Steelers fans...and a cross-section that likes to cheer for a winner. But, of course, if Cleveland suddenly had five good years while Pittsburgh fell into a decline, I'm sure you'd IMMEDIATELY admit that change in overall crowd noise for teams was because those bandwagoners were jumping on your wagon.
