Rumors are it was some sort of domestic thing, but how does that become felonious? Did he pull out a gun or something?

That's what I was wondering? It will be interesting to hear the details. I don't like this guy professionally, but this is a little surprising to me. Just goes to show that just because someone is on TV, we don't know them at all. He seems like an elitist and very argumentative, but maybe he's naturally aggressive and it caught up to him.

Found this off a google search...
Misdemeanor or Felony?

Whether a crime is a felony or a misdemeanor is determined by the seriousness of the crime and the relevant state laws. In many jurisdictions, acts that result in serious injuries are charged as felonies. Cases with no injury or slight injury are charged as misdemeanors. A prosecutor also may consider prior violent acts by the defendant to determine the level of crime to charge.

Doesn't he have Youngstown area roots?

Not bashing Youngstown, I used to work with a guy from Youngstown who claimed to be his uncle.

Hate Jay Mariotti, not that I want to see him arrested, but he comes off as mean, resentful, and just a douche overall.

Deadspin has had a few articles on him being a creeper with pictures sent in of him just standing by himself staring at girls.

He hit on my GF at the time and her roomates. Dude is a sketch ball for sure. Although, he wasnt alone on this night. He was with some other guys (I presume also writers for the Chicago area). But he was the only one actively creeping.

He is always saying that it's 2010 whenever a race situation or fight happens in sports. Is it not 2010 when he is involved? lol

Mariotti was born and grew up in Pittsburgh. Safe to say has familia in Y-town. He did go to Ohio U., but I also recall he worked for the now defunt Cincinnati Post back in the mid-80's.
