We dropped my 3rd child at Ashland University yesterday. It was not good. All I can think of is her crying when we left. She wasn't a happy camper. She called last night and was a little better, but was crying by the end of the phone call. I am resisting every urge to call or text, I think she'd be best off not hearing from us for awhile but it's so freaking hard it's all I can think about.

So Chatterers, cheer me up!!! :D

Being an Empty Nester means you only have to pick up after your husband. You only have to cook for him and only do his laundry.

You've had sex at least 3 times. That's much higher than the chatter average.

I'd not worry. While the ritual of leaving the parents' house for college can be rough on teens in the short term, after they become accustomed to the joys of alcohol, recreational drugs and promiscuous sex, that period of homesickness falls by the wayside in the blink of an eye.

Man, I should become a counselor or advice columnist!

Her behavior is normal and probably more college kids experience it than do not. She'll be fine in a couple weeks when she's met people and been to class and grown a little more comfortable there.

This....When she figures out there are many others (mostly girls) like her, she'll be fine. The boys are ready to party...which is what I'd be crying about. lol

There is Nothing harder than learning this new separation. "Time" will be the healer for both of you. She will get involving in her new school life, make friends, and have an amazing social life. Your healing will come from knowing she is content and you have done your job raising her well so she can begin her new life as an adult.
