it's official--Steven Tyler will be one of the American Idol judges for the upcoming season....personally,it'll bring me back to watching it :cool:

I think he'll be awesome! Plus, he certainly knows the business - he's been in it for DECADES. Good for him. I'll definitely keep watching.

I don't like it. IMO this show has and will jump the shark. They should have ended it after last season.

I wonder if he is going to fill Simon's roll or if they are going to try to replace Simon....The harsh criticism is pretty key to the success of these shows - you had Simon on American Idol and Piers Morgan is the same way on America and Britain's Got Talent.

I'm sure they wanted some continuity to the judging panel, but Randy has been dead weight from the start.

Tyler being the heavy simply would not work. He is a celebrity entertainer. If he came out and acted like Simon people would just think he is an egotistical ass. It worked for Simon because he was not a well known celebrity prior to the show. What's more, it is his true personality, not an act.

They're going to need to get someone else to be the "bad guy".
