EV throws three in the strike zone on the first 3 pitches to Kelly Johnson, but the ump only calls one a strike!

EV can't get any calls, and ends up walking Johnson, then on the 2-0 threw it down the middle to Young and got a hot grounder to SS and an inning ending DP.

Bruce gets on with a great one out bunt, and Ramon follows with a bloop hit, but Janish is too anxious in his AB and pops out, so the two hits only serve to get the pitchers spot out of the way when EV grounds out.

Looks like Fisher might get a couple innings before he gets sent down after the game tonight.

EV with a BAD inning, walking the first two not able to find the plate! then a 30" and a 50' chopper each advance the runners scoring one and getting two outs, and then it takes EV a 3 ball count before he can finally get the final out on the pitcher. 1-1 thru two innings and EV has 43 pitches. Hopefully that will be his only run allowed again tonight and he can make 6-7 innings. He'll need to get better control to do that.

This is the kind of pitcher that Edmonds can hit, one who doesn't throw over 90 mph.

EV with 73 pitches thru 4 innings. Just like last outing, looking better as the game gets later. Ought to be able to get thru 6 innings if he doesn't get into too bad of trouble, or has a control outage for a couple batters like in the 2nd.

Jonny Gomes needs to take a break for a while.

Yeah, put Heisey in LF for a while. At least if he struggles at the plate (which he has shown no evidence of doing on a Gomes-like level) he's still good in the field.

Gomes has literally hit the ball 400 feet straight up...all 3 at-bats tonight

And Dutsy was one batter too late yanking Edinson.

And also is bringing Nix in with the double switch..

Don't you think Heisey is going to be sent down tomorrow to make room for Travis Wood?

Chris Young is like the only Dback that can hurt the Reds and Edinson leaves one out for him.

EV has been threatening to give up a big inning the last four games, but this time it happens. Command, command!

Welsh against electronic balls and strikes. I just don't understand peoples aversion to this. The computer can decide quicker than the ump and there will be less debate and hard feelings and a more fair game. Seems the #1 way to improve call accuracy and should be done next before any other technology improvement!

I might stop watching baseball if it went to electronic balls and strikes, terrible idea IMO.

Do you mind explaining why?
