Important plays: 1. Taking the safety and running time off the clock plus being organized for the punt coverage.
2. Zook sacking the q-back to let time run out. You hate to count on Freshmen but they contributed tonight.

Ugly at best. One thing we didn't do was beat ourselves and give up. We didn't do alot of things good but we also didn't have stupid penalties. Hung around and got a victory the hard way. We'll take it and bring on the "mighty" Titans...phhhhhhhhhhh!

It's been said....wasnt pretty but its a win, we've been on both sdies of these games. Has to help the whole team's confidence.

Coach d said turner was fighting cramps from 1st qtr on. But he is a really fast kid. Tre with a big block on that punt return.

We did enough....but it's a win.

Our opponents results...
Ashland, Triway, Copley, Lex, Senior won
Madison, Clear Fork lost
dont know about Woo.

The two freshman played great! Summers had multiple tackles and a fumble recovery and Zook had the big sack towards the end of the game. Kudos to those two young men for stepping up in a big game and playing like they belonged there from the get go. I think it raises some eyebrows with the coaches because you have two kids that are 14/15 years old.....but yet they can play and I think they both proved they can play on friday nights.
.....so that brings me to our offense.....wow! That was ugly and maybe pathetic is the better word! We have got to run it better and throw the ball better. I dont know that one QB stood out over the other, but the play from that position HAS TO IMPROVE for us to be successful...period!

153 yds of offense. Seemed like a lot of cramps on both sides. We had at least 4 guys come off and so did NW. Any injuries? I saw a dislocated finger.

Neither "looks" like a freshman. Both played well for getting thrown right in the fire.

lots of cramps, lots of nerves, lots of sloppy sloppy play on both sides of the ball. the nw qb has a heck of an arm, now he needs to learn how to use it.

Thought he settled in nicely....especially after his start. He wasnt close on much in the 1st quarter...but made some very nice throws late in the game. Need a run game and someone besides Beers and Hoffman to go to on offense.

QB needs to do better in looking off his receivers. What's the point of going 5-wide when you're only staring at 1?

And that worries me some. You could see NW q back was looking at only 1 receiver, so we knew who or what side of the field it was going to and we let them get behind us numerous times. Triway will bring a better passer and receivers. Can we cover and bring some pressure?

Getting in to the sarcasm swing are ya, rrfan? Man, those were some highly unusual stats for last night's game. But we will take it. Critical that the kicking game accounted for 6 points! I like!

You know if you throw the homerun ball 20 times, you are bound to connect once or twice right? I did not like this gameplan at all. The point of the 5 wide set it to overwhelm the opposing D with multiple threats all over the field. If you are going to run the go route all night, why not Line up the I and make them respect the run threat to take some DB's off the field? Then for the love of football, when you are up by 3 with 4 minutes left, why are you still throwing the deep balll on 1st and 2nd down? Between these tactics and some first game nerves, we really shot ourselves in the foot Friday night. Great game from the riders, I really enjoyed the tough play and energy that your boys showed. Besides the frustration, it was a fun game to watch. What do you say we go pluck some falcons?

"Hoffman would pick up Northwest’s second interception on defense with 5:43 left when he caught an overthrown pass at the Northwest 40. But the Indians were unable to kill even a minute of clock due to two incomplete passes and a run for no gain, and had to punt the ball back to Orrville.

“We’re ahead at that point, and we wanted to run the clock,” Whiting said. “I felt like we could run the ball on them, but we didn’t run the ball on them at all.” "

Anyone else see what I am talking about here?

Agreed Drums of War!

If you felt like you could run the ball then you should have because it would be the logical thing to do.
I'm sick of this 5 wide crap anymore
- it keeps the opposition in the game because it's hard to run any time off the clock
- and we are definitely not overwhelming the defense with multiple threats all over the field (more like getting jammed at the line most plays or people who ideally shouldn't be playing receiver)

We were 0-for-4 when trying to kick PAT's last week. 1 bad snap, 1 wide right, and 2 blocked. Very discouraging.

Ugh...man did we look ugly...especially in the first half. Congrats to Orrville on your win and good luck the rest of the season.

I agree on looking at one receiver every play..terrible.
