Anyone else excited to see this movie? No matter how you feel about it, there's no denying Facebook revolutionized social networking, and the film looks like it has a lot of potential.

Personally, I have no interest in seeing it. I just don't find the story of facebook that interesting. Zuck stole the idea from another site. Those people got mad. Now Zuck is a billionaire and they aren't.

Eerily similar to this site, minus the billionaire part, well at least at this point.

This movie is coming out way too soon. Whats next? Are they already filming a movie about Obama's presidency?

The story is very interesting. There are alot of underlying scandals to how the whole thing got started before it ended up globally revolutionizing the communications network. From the previews, everything looks true to the book. I'm interested to see it.

Too soon for who? I would imagine it's fairly low budget and will profit. As long as it profits, it's not too soon.

Yeah. And when it comes to social network sites, message boards, etc.; they're things I use, but I don't really care about the people who created them and/or the process by which they were created and I definitely have no personal desire to watch a movie about it unless there's a few made-up subplots involving them getting captured and tortured by terrorists or something like that. Like, if I heard there was going to be a movie called "The Justincredible Story", I'd gouge my own damn eyes out before watching it.

There are a ton of movies that made a profit when they had no business to. There are a lot of idiots in this country that allow these movies to make profits (see Twilight, Dinner for Schmucks, Transformers, Rush Hour 1-3, Star Wars EP 1-3, Vin Diesel movies, Matrix Revolutions, Ashton Kutcher movies, Daredevil, MIB2, Twister, War of the worlds, Signs, the new willy wonka, All Michael Bay movies, 2012, etc)

It's too soon for history. Facebook hasn't even been around for 10 years. Zuckerberg is still in some legal battles. At least wait for those legal battles to end.

I agree with all of those except for the Rush Hours. I still laugh when I watch them.

As David Fincher has said, facebook is to this movie what bikes were to Breaking Away. Just like the book, it's a lot more than some narrative about how facebook was founded. At this point, you have to trust that Finchr is going to do a good job based on his track record.

Somewhat spoilers I guess....

Zuckerberg is portrayed quite unfavorably. It's more about the pursuit of money and fame and the costs of it all.

I see your point. However the evolution of Facebook was definitely a big deal. Anyone who was a college student (and had access to Facebook) during the time it was founded can attest to that. You have to remember this was a site only for college students and had a huge influence on the social experience there. For example, it changed the way sororities and fraternities recruited, making it a lot easier for them to size up potential pledges long before they cam to rush. Yes this was done before, but Facebook made it a lot easier. Before Facebook, most social networks were just wastelands, but Facebook offered something very unique for the college student by giving them the ability to create groups (used for social clubs, sports etc.), see who shared classes with you, and other features that changed the way students experienced school.

That said Facebook today isn't what it was. I think it went downhill when it was opened up to everyone and they added all those applications. That said I understand as a business it has to grow.

Hmm yes I must be an idiot because I want to see a movie written by Aaron Sorkin and directed by David Fincher, two highly-acclaimed talents ...

Not saying that promises a good movie, but I'd be curious what you consider before going to see a film. I'd say a good screenwriter and director certainly help.

Well the trailer looks like shit, and the actor is a terrible pussy Michael Cera rip off. Good director would help some if they had one. Fight Club I am sure is the one you're referring to...meh good not great. Movie doen't hold up on multiple viewings. Outside of that, Madonna music videos so yeah, no high hopes here.
