I'd say that was probably due to his pill problem.

Some sort of drug issue. I have a vague memory that he was in line for some sort of push as Jericho's henchman when he turned on Shawn Michaels a few years back, but wound up getting fired because he created some sort of medical emergency on a plane. No "wellness" warnings or anything; just fired.

He took too many painkillers on an airplane and went into a seizure. They viewed him as a safety and medical liability. At the time, it was not known that the seizures were caused by the painkillers. They thought that he had a medical problem, thus the reasoning for being released without any wellness warnings. He was later rehired and went to the WWE's development series.
