Senior leadership... a sign of a championship team.

I have heard nothing but great things about Bryant Browning the person. Don't see how anyone could have an issue with him being a captain.

Definitely no issue with Browning. 3 year starter whom, by all accounts, has been a standup teammate and student @ OSU. He's taken a beating from fans at times, but worked to make himself a very good college football player.

Being a captain has very little to do with being a great player (because obviously he's probably not the best lineman on the team) but with being a hard worker and a good leader. Obviously his teammates and coaching staff see him as both of those things and chose to give him this honor accordingly.

quotes from each.

Browning's quote shows why he is a captain and maybe the most deserving. He got in better shape after getting worked over in his early years and has come on to be a great guard.
OSU released statements from all six captains. Here are excerpts:

-- Browning: “I have tried to be a leader throughout my career. I hope this shows that my teammates appreciate what I have done. Now I am hoping to be one of the leaders of a great team, a championship team.”

-- Heyward: “A leader has a responsibility to take care of business, so now I have to step up to the plate. This is one of those honors you think about since you were a kid, being captain of your team. It’s a tremendous feeling.”

-- Homan: “My role won’t change. I want to still be the same hard-working person.”

-- Rolle: “When I look at the other seniors on this team, this is such a great honor.”

-- Saine: “I was surprised to hear my name called. I just want to lead by example and try to do things right.”

-- Sanzenbacher: “I don’t think it will change much for me; I just want to continue to contribute to this program any way I can.”

well put....I didn't want to imply that I didn't like the pick, but moreso that I was surprised by it...as I stated,if his peers voted him a captain, then he deserves it.

I said on the first page Tressel seemed to like Browning, as he is always put in front of the microphone, so him being a captain isn't surprising. If they would have went with 4, I still think Browning would have been one of them.

And a horrible starter at that. He's only started since his Soph yr because of injuries and the horrific play of the O-line.

Interesting.

Team-first responses:
- Browning
- Heyward
- Rolle
- Saine

Me-first response:
- Homan
- Sanzenbacher

Not saying anything in a bad way, just thought it was peculiar to see how each responded.

Browning got thrown in at RT before he was ever ready, and was that clear. His best position is G and since getting moved there, he's performed well. I think he plays G in the NFL next year.

Do you know the question? What if the question to Sanz was, "How will being a captain affect your role on the team?"
