Everyone forgets this is a business too. When you schedule multiple big boys each year you are going to lose a home game. You are going to lose 100k @ $60 a ticket. The reason they play MAC teams, the MAC teams don't want a home and home. EVERY MAJOR SCHOOL DOES THE SAME FUCKING THING. If you want it fixed, get rid of the BCS. Teams want to win 10 games with just enough to be atop the standings.

I believe its a Big Ten thing to schedule MAC schools. I don't have a problem with scheduling one. I know sometimes they are forced to schedule 2 depending on who they add or drop from schedules.

The talk of Meechigan playing Alabama in Dallas. Would you say tOSU travels better than Meechigan or am I blinded by my scarlet and gray glasses. Also, who would everyone say is the top 5 in traveling (regular season). I would think tOSU is in the top 5, Nebraska? Texas? Wisconsin? and Bama or PSU?

actually,they play two MAC teams,and IMO, if you're encouraged by the way the BCS is set up to play easier teams (which may not always be the case--just ask tsun),why not pay the highest level of D1 schools available in Ohio to do so? the only other school I'd like to see the Buckeyes schedule is Cinci,but I don't know if the 'Cats want to do that right now...

Given the number of at-large BCS bids the Buckeyes have received I would say they are one of the top traveling teams in the country.

That's the Top Ten's weak OOC teams, sans TCU and Boise considering their conference schedule is garbage...it's not like Ohio State's schedule sticks out, every team plays 2 or 3 terrible teams.

Some websites have BGSU (a 3rd MAC team that year) listed as the Oct 15th 2011 game but the official tOSU athletics website and CoachTressel.com still list the date as TBA. I imagine this has to do with some schedule revamping due to Nebraska beginning play in '11 and we'll know a lot more by the end of the month

Cinci is on the 2012 and 2014 schedule.

i'm not condemning OSU, but as a fan, i'd like to see them play 2 big boys. I think it would earn some respect from the nation. But i understand it's not smart to forego all the money that comes with not losing home games every year.

They should put Texas vs. Alabama in a neutral site game (Dallas) or Texas vs. USC or LSU. There are alot of LSU fans in Texas.
And all the talks about cupcake schedules.........go out and play WVU and UNC for out of conference then play Florida, Alabama, and others from the SEC. That gives you a definition of a "non" cupcake schedule.

^^^I'll bet when UNC was scheduled,they sucked...sometimes it's a crapshoot scheduling OOC opponents so far out,especially ones that aren't traditionally strong--and in this day and age,scheduling one powerhouse is enough,especially when you play in a power conference.

I agree with the 2 tough OOC games. Their current rotation of top programs and it would be nice to see them play WVU or Pitt every year as their other tough game. Similar to Miami, FSU, Florida how they end up playing each other.

1. WVU or Pitt (annual game
2. MAC
3. current rotation of different legit programs
4. Academy, or lower tier team like Rice, etc.

They don't need respect lol. Its Ohio State we are talking about, not fucking Boise, TCU, or Utah.

Their schedule is fine and I prefer the ones they set up. One tough OOC game (USC, Texas, Miami, Oklahoma, Cal (if good), Va Tech, Tennessee etc) and then some OOC games to work the kinks/getting young guys PT before the B10 season starts. Not afraid to travel across the country to tough stadiums to play in either.

Every season I post the game I'd most like to see Al Quaeda pay a visit to...and usually its the ND vs scUM game. But in 2012 we have a new winner and it's an added bonus if Jerry Jones is actually at the game.

We'll we won't see it for another 7-8+ years since OSU has big OOC games on contract up until 2019.

I think OSU will still schedule a top program every year for an OOC game either way.

For the record, Notre Dame was bowl eligible, they just chose not to play in a game. :)

This is a great point. Anyone who does not see this is crazy IMO. People need to realize that OSU has the best chance to go to a National tittle game if they go unbeaten or loose 1 game regardless of who they play. They are not Utah, they only need to win games. This goes for Michigan and PSU too. Michigan won 5 games last year and are not in the top 25. But bet your ass if they for some reason go unbeaten, they will be in the tittle game. It's about money and history.

Scheduling bad teams has it's pros/cons. Even though they usually get beat down, the lesser team does get a lot of money, tv exposure and it's a great recruiting tool.

OSU travels better, but Michigan still travels well.

In terms of scheduling, it would be nice to see big schools play 2 big teams, but if the Big Ten goes to a 9 game conference schedule that makes it tougher. At the same time, 2 of the 3 can't be bad MAC teams either (Eastern Michigan is the worst team in 1-A football).
