Redlegs take the rubber match. Cueto is pitching too well at the moment to allow the 'rates to beat him.

Hopefully we're still in the race mid-late August and September and Dusty stops giving Rolen a day off when there is a scheduled day off the next day. Even if it is a day game after a night game, he is too important to this team to be getting so many days off.

Last time Cueto took the mound at PNC it was his best start ever. Hopefully it's more of the same. Happ going for Houston does give them a chance against St. Louis though.

Even though the numbers don't show it, Karstens has just about been the Pirates most consistent starter so hopefully a good pitching matchup. Go Bucs!

When are they gonna go ahead and send Stubbs down getting Dickerson back up?? It's obvious, at the moment, Heisey is a better player than Stubbs, both offensively and defensively. Let's get Dickerson up and see what he can do.

That's fine, ground out RBI's are fine against the Pirates.

Votto is good.

Heisey should remain in CF indefinitely. Unless he gives Baker a reason to bench him, i.e. a Stubbs-like megaslump, he should be the starting CF from here on. If Dickerson is brought up you can slide Heisey to the right and start Dickerson in CF if he can come close to his AAA numbers. Bruce is also essentially worthless at the moment and needs to ride the pine for a while.

Things getting ugly now. Karstens was able to survive for five innings, but the shaky middle relief is turning it from a close game into something a bit more out of reach.

I think Dusty should go ahead and pull Votto and perhaps Heisey.

Yeah, but after getting recalled from the minors, he's been batting .600 (or is after that home run, since he's 3/5 after returning). And besides, Bray sucks. He doesn't Stephen Jackson-suck (11.57 ERA with an ungodly 2.71 WHIP), but he still sucks.
