Wow, you need to get out more. Pittsburgh is an ok city on its best day, no offense to its residents. The only Midwest city (does Pitt count as Midwest? ehhh, either way) that can lay claim to being in the top 10 is probably Chicago, and it is barely in my top 10 if at all. Just this guy's opinion.
Of the cities I have been to, here is my quick top 10:
1. New York -- I have a love-hate relationship with it on a daily basis, but nothing compares to its energy, culture, restaurants and nightlife
2. San Francisco -- Like I mentioned earlier, unique layout, cool vibe, interesting mix of people, close to scenic areas like Napa and Sonoma
3. Seattle -- Love the Pacific Northwest, and Seattle indeed has that "Emerald City" feel to it. Very rustic scene, which totally works
4. Denver -- It's only flaw is that it's a bit too quiet, but very clean, with the Rockies as its backdrop
5. Boston -- I hate driving there with all the construction, but it's mix of old-town feel and modern vibrant city elevates Boston into the top 5
6. San Diego -- The only reason its so low is that SoCal is a bit TOO relaxed for me. Gem of a city by the beach, but doesn't have high energy
7. Santa Barbara, CA -- Not much of a city, but probably the most gorgeous scenery in the U.S. ... Pristine beaches surrounded by red mountains
8. Washington, DC -- too dirty and crime-ridden to crack the top 7, still very cool with plenty to see and do
9. Chicago -- A nice city, but lacks the energy that defines some of the big US cities. Good restaurants, and lots of large residents as a result
10. Las Vegas -- I LOVE Vegas, been there 11 times. But as a city, its fake, like a movie set. Basically hotels and booze and strippers, not that there is anything wrong with that!
