Now it would be nice if the homeless did have a job or a home like others ... ... However I know this is not possible for some and street living is all they know.
However there are other places that the community can provide that is safer for everyone. The homeless however refuses at times to take the proper steps to get help.
But a few arrest for sleeping in the prk will help direct them to a safer and more supportive locations.

Maybe if you guys would read the article you may have noticed that she wasn't sleeping, she was laying on a blanket playing with her dog. Lemme guess, she's not allowed to do that either? Should've been submitting her application somewhere huh? lol

She was laying on a blanket in what she thought was her living room. Last I checked cop cars can't drive thru the homeless shelter or the YWCA.

She was playing with her dog, on a blanket. It was an accident yes.....but not her fault. Quit trying to blame it on her. Lemme guess, those girls that get raped were asking for it too, right?

Last I checked, laying on blankets in the park was encouraged, not outlawed. I don't think I've ever been to a park where you're NOT allowed to lay on a blanket.

First, let me put up the disclaimer that while I may be a hippie liberal, I am a card carrying, cop loving hippie liberal.


I find it interesting that the call about this came in at noon. I was under the impression it was late evening. I'm definitely interested to hear why he was driving through the grass at the park in the middle of the day. I've seen a lot of officers do it at night when they're checking on things, but never during the day.


As for the sleeping in the park during the day, I'm guilty of doing that. Nothing beats laying out in the sunshine with a book and dozing off.

I was listening to the Bulldog on 700wlw last night on my way home from golfing and he was talking about this incident. He said he went down to the park to take a look at the scene and there was a paved asphalt path running through the park right next to where he ran the lady over.

I've only driven by that park once or twice on my way to Findlay Market, but I remember it being 100% flat. I'm wondering what reason he had for going "off the beaten path" when his presence would've been seen by every single person in the park had he not driven through it, or at least stayed on the paved path. And why did he feel the need to drive over someone's blanket?

I am curious to read the officers side of the story once that finally comes out to get an idea of what he was trying to do.

Not that it makes what the woman was doing wrong, but the only statement I've seen that said she was playing with the dog was by her husband who wasn't there at the time. It makes a little more sense as to how the officer may not have noticed her if she was sleeping or lying down under the blanket as opposed to being active or moving around.

That's what bothered me about the situation.

Let's change this situation slightly for all of you who are blaming the homeless woman. Let's take SEJ's situation and say it was a UC student laying in the park studying and dozed off instead of a homeless woman...and then this happened.

Are you more likely to find fault in what the cop did then?

Really, unless you're talking about a different article, the article in the OP makes NO mention of her sleeping. I think you imagined it in your extreme need to make this woman out to be the bad guy....

Who blamed the woman? I think what I said was that if she wasn't homeless she wouldn't have been sleeping in the park and she wouldn't have been killed. Of course, had the cop not become a cop and had gone into performing show tunes on Broadway instead she also wouldn't have been run over by him.....but I prefer realistic logic.
