I dont understand all the love and sympathy for this guy today. Was he a great owner? Yeah. But he is also the guy who paid $40,000 to find out shit about a player, got banned from baseball and when they announced that at a Yankee game the crowd stood and cheered.
Would have been an awesome guy to play for though.

Rough week for the Yank faithful...the legendary Bob Sheppard passed away a few weeks ago. For those that don't know who Sheppard was....the PA announcer at Yankee stadium for about 70 years or so.

RIP George Steinbrenner.
Baseball and probably professional sports greatest owner who cared so deeply about winning that it drove everyone around him and the organization as well. He had is moments where you wish he wouldn't have done something or said something the way he did, but he usually made amends.
He was a very generous man who gave millions and millions to former employees, schools, children, little league organzations and countless other ventures as well.
