And like I said, I'd like to see how you all would act losing that much money.

I understand his frustration and I don't think he has a problem with the fine, but no one should be surprised that he was fined.

Oh i'm not surprised he was fined..especially after Cuban's fines, you gotta think Stern would be consistent with his fining.

But I can't stand when people say "he's an owner, he's gotta be professional"

Yeah he COULD have..but who really gives a shit? So he loses out on a hunded grand..whooptydoo! He got his point through, and that is that he is passionate about what he does, unlike most owners who only care about their money.

Give me Gilbert as an owner any day of the week.

Again, the letter was between Dan Gilbert and Cavs fans. Gilbert stands behind his comments and so do the majority of Cavs fans and that's really all that matters. What David Stern, Jesse Jackson, sportswriters, or some random hater from OC has to say about it doesn't mean shit IMO. You can call it unprofessional, out of line, uncalled for, whatever....but this wasn't a professional document. It was an open letter to a specific group of people. A letter made to restore faith in a franchise and a brand.

I also love this presumption that because of the letter no free agent would ever want to come to Cleveland now. First of all at the end of the day money talks. Second of all this was clearly a unique circumstance. Really a scenario that we've never seen in sports before. Pretty sure not every FA is going to be a homegrown face of the franchise. Any player that wasn't a complete idiot (so half the league) would figure that out.

why cant you stand that? he's supposed to be professional. I would be upset that i would be losing money on the deal, but that shit happens. if you cant stand the heat get out of the kitchen

Didn't the Supreme Court just come to a decision that all of the teams in the NBA were separate entities? OR was that one of the other major sports leagues?

I bet if you keep typing "owner" in all caps, people will start to agree with you.

Because he won't accept the money? He isn't allowed to, so what else is he gonna do with it?

He looked like a moron, ask anyone that is not a Cleveland supporter. That statement did more damage than good.....and hes 100k down....like that really matters though.

Gilbert's rant did not go far enough in my opinion. He should have ripped him a helluva lot worse than he did. Fuck Stern...fuck the NBA...and fuck LBJ and his self motivating "decision". LBJ is the best NBA all around player that I've ever seen. And he laid a deuce...a double decker at that...on the championship starved fans of Cleveland.
