Come on Darkon. You're good at making up excuses. Anyone???Strapping Young Lad;413644 wrote:I will ask this question again though no one will answer it b/c it proves how dead wrong they are.
If Big Red takes all the Valley's best athletes away from their home school and that's the only reason they win, then why do these area schools have no trouble beating Big Red's Ohio Valley All Star team (same athletes that play football) in every other sport???? Basketball, baseball. Whatever. Those sports require great athleticism. Yet the super elite athletes that Big Red has stolen away from Buckeye, IC, Weir routinely get beat by their old school in these sports. WHY???
Could it be that coaching and hard work are what wins Big Red football games???

OK Tuttle.
Whay excuses am I making up?
I think you might agree that most kids specialize in one sport these days. Not like it was 25 years ago when an athlete played every sport they could. Today some schools seem to excel at certain sports. For our local area I would say Creek has had some success at Basketball, Edison Baseball Toronto, Baseball Steubenville Football.(boys sports)
I believe Big Red would still have a quality football program but with out the recent years of "Open Enrollment" players I don't believe they would have had that much success at that level.
Yes hard work and coaching have alot to do with it. So does recruiting!
So no one else in the area works hard and they must have awfull coaching. Give me a break.
Good enough for you.

You have not answered anything. You've stated that some schools are better than others in certain sports. No shit. You may be right that most kids specialize in one sport these days. But that sport is football across the board, so that argument is null.
Why are these superhuman athletes that Big Red recruits not good enough to win at all sports since they are simply the better athletes???? Couldn't it be that though other schools have good coaching and work ethic Big Red has the better. Look at any league, any level. There are plenty who are good. But some are better. In the NFL they have the best football coaches in the world. But some are better than others.
And what success??? You think they just started making the playoffs since open enrollment??? They've only won a total of three State Championships. It's not all that impressive...
Really what success are they having now that hasn't been going on since I started following in the late 80's early 90's??? They were bound to win a few more championships, but they won or went to nearly as many prior to open enrollment. If they just started regularly going to the playoffs and making deep runs after open enrollment you may be onto something. But they won and were going to championships, and cosistently making the playoffs long before open enrollment. We both know that's the truth.
Now how's that saying go????

Neither. I just started watching their football team when I was young. Didn't even go to high school in the same state.
I'm just into a little thing i like to call the truth. It's FACT that the school enjoyed close to the same successes before open enrollment (two of their entire 3 state titles came after OE but they made the playoffs yearly and won/went to title games long before OE, I promise you that). Am i wrong there????? If so please show me that I am. I'll be curious to see.
If someone says something that is blatantly untrue they usually get called on it. That's what I'm doing here though I have no affiliation w/ the school.

Are you really trying to say that even with out the "Open Enrollment"/Recruits Big Red would be just as successful.
This has been going on for alot of years. They just call it "Open Enrollment" now and you don't need a run down house on 4th street for an address.
"Superhuman athletes"
Never used the term. "Talented athletes" I will go with. If you get enough to compliment a solid program you would be more successful. NO?
Your question of why BR is not as dominant in other sports.
As far as the other sports at other schools you have talented athletes that don'y play fooball. If they did they probably would get a visit.
So the statement that an athlete that specializes in one sport is "football accross the board" is not true. Many athletes train for other sports all year.

Keeping in reference to the cities in Ohio being a family, I present to you.....Youngstown:
Youngstown is your other uncle.....the greasy, hairy one. He's been unemployed for years (ever since he got out of prison). He likes to talk about how he used to be in the mafia, which you question, but then again every once in awhile he says something that scares the shit out of you and makes you believe he's been telling the truth and he's not THAT crazy. He can also beat up on the neighborhood kids, but they learned to steer clear of him a looooong time ago.

Enough of the best athletes at each school are playing football. Like I said, NULL. So, which is it???? This recruiting has been going on all along and thus the success all along or it started with OE and now they've had more success??? (B/c they have had barely anymore success since OE so if I look at the results prior to OE and after I will see the same pattern. Trust me)
If you have a solid program it attracts more talented athletes NO???? Which came first the chicken or the egg??? Why can't your school copy this recruiting plan??? B/c they can't build the solid program to attract the athletes???? B/c your coach isn't good enough??? They don't want to???? What is it????
And how do other programs consistently win??? Are they all recruiting????

AHHHHAHAHA!!!! That's coming from a Mooney person. I suppose you would like to gang up on SHS for recruiting too. That'd really make this thread great. But no I couldn't give a shit if they proved SHS illegally recruited all their players in the histroy of the team and stripped them of all wins. I'm not that dependent on high school football. Just want to know how the mind of a crybaby works. why can't some people just admit that they just get beat by the better team instead of making excuses and accusations????
I genuinely want to know his answers to those questions...

No....people accuse Mooney of recruiting all the time. I shrug it off. We've got the trophies. You need to learn to relax about it. Haters gonna hate.

I did answer the question of why other schools have some success in other sports against BR.
If you would read my previous posts I never said that BR would not be successful without the recruits. What I said was the success would not have been as much. The program is a good one period.
And yes they "Recruit".
Clear enough?

A bunch of idiots on this thread...who know NOTHING about Big Red, and the players they are talking about. If you really want to now why kids transfer to Big Red then go talk to their parents, and make sure you tell them that you don't approve of their decision (since it is your business and all).
