Unfortunately people are too stupid to operate without it. JJ had the unmoderated politics forum and it was impossible to even have a conversation because it just turned into a 5th grade bitch fight, name calling match.

Now, unfortunately it's almost impossible to have a conversation here simply because of the makeup of the board. The bulk of the heavy posters lean WAY right (and the board is made up of probably 75% right to begin with), so it's basically just a back patting, circle jerking bitch session. When I do post over there I generally don't even go back and read the responses because there's no point... I pretty much know who will post and what they will say. I just say my peace and leave, just leaving my little bit of wisdom for them to chew on.

That's no one's fault, that is just how the cards fell with who decided to post there. LJ does a good of job as he can, and the moderating is the reason at least a few of the threads have some meaningful dialogue, as opposed to none of them.

Does it really matter now far left or right someone is when the discussion is about gay rights. Even if you don't agree with gay rights or not they are a freaking human being! To bash someone for being gay is just as bad a bashing someone for their race or gender. There are lines we as people shouldn't cross, human rights is that line IMO!

I used to think being gay was a choice and a wrong choice. I never understood it because I listened to those around me. Growing up in a small town where everyone thinks alike and knows everyone is not healthy. Getting out of my hometown into a bigger city really opened the eyes to the world. I have totally changed my stances on homosexuality years ago. I know many many good friends and people that are gay. I also know it wasn't a choice for them, that is the way it is!! I am not gay, wouldn't ever be gay, but I don't think its wrong.

What about bashing pedophiles? If there was no negative connotation generated from mass media/people's opinions, there would be a lot more kids becoming victims. I'm thankful that when you call something gay, it's meant as a negative, that's at least enough to keep kids from growing up dreaming about the behind of another man.

I understand gays deserve the basic human rights, but anything more than that is ridiculous. Marriage isn't between anything but a man and a woman, and I'm tired of gays QQ'ing all over the place because they can't legally be considered one by law. Civil unions are a joke too, you shouldn't get tax breaks because do men for fun, that's an absolute joke.
