BS.

1. Animal House
2. National Lampoon's Vacation
3. Blazing Saddles
4. Porky's
5. Airplane Movies
6. Fast Times at Ridgemont High
7. Monty Python Movies
8. The Blues Brothers
9. Stir Crazy
10. Naked Gun Movies (at least the first two)
11. Coming to America
12. Good Morning Vietnam
13. Cheech and Chong Up In Smoke
14. Numerous Woody Allen Flicks
15. The Jerk

There's at least 15 movies there (actually more considering sequels and the number of Monty Python and Woody Allen films). There are about 10 others I could list but have not for the sake of space and time. Don't even get me started on some earlier movies in cinema. I'm sorry but movies like Pineapple Express and Superbad do not hold a candle to those movies.

Any movie with that stupid mother fucker Seth Rogan, or this new clown Jonah Hill cannot be taken seriously, movies nowadays SUCK DICK, my 17 year old and his buddies tell me, "oh, you gotta see this movie, it's hilarious", and the movie sucks.

I think the last movie that could be considered a classic is There's something about Mary, The Hangover was decent, but IMO, not a classic.

I think The Hangover is pretty close to classic, and Old School deserves a mention for reinventing the comedy of the new millennium. Most of the Apatow films were enjoyable (my favorite is 40 year old virgin) if not a bit overrated (particularly Knocked Up - watching it on tv now I can't believe the critical acclaim it received). But we'll see if they are as relevant in a few decades as Caddyshack, Trading Places, the Farelly brothers initial trilogy (Dumb and Dumber, Kingpin, and TSAM), etc.

Comedy is such a subjective genre.

one of my favorite scenes from We Are Marshall. When the President is up at Jack's house and can't get a straight answer out of him. And Jack goes, "you wanna know why I picked up the phone?" "yes." "it's quite simple really." something something something.

i can't remember it all. but that's a great one from that movie.

Webster. Classic means enduring and timeless. If you think a 5-10 year old movie meets that requirement, your range is quite low.

So no movies being made in the last 10 years will EVER be classic? NONE?

The old movies were "classic" as soon as they came out. They aren't classic because they are old and good. They are classic because they are good.

What is to endure immediately? Time needs to elapse to see if those movies are as good over a period of time. If the movie is good enough, it will be classic.

Those who say the Hangover is "classic" needs to be shot. It was a good movie, but far from a classic.
