That's a lot of cash, using their MLE on Mike Miller.

I guess it could work out.

Sasha out of town?

IMO, I could be wrong but I don't think Miller will accept by tonight's deadline. There is too much movement yet to be made before guys like him, who could actually be important pieces to teams, will make a decision.

Just my thoughts, but it is the Lakers so he may go the quick route.

Banks won't see anytime this year, he'll be on the Summer League roster and possibly the NBDL.

Walton is.. ehh.. okay. When he's healthy, I love what his passing game brings to our offense.

Depth is what this team needs. I wouldn't be suprised to see some kind of Sasha/Walton trade package for a PG though.

This is the kind of shit the frustrates me about LA sometimes.

They offer Mike Miller 30 million, yet they wanted Phil and Fish to take a paycut.

Exactly what I was going to mention.

LAL does't want to be lumped with teams overpaying for guys right now (Amir to TOR, Frye with Suns, Gay with MEM, Darko and wherever etc).

LAL could get a player like Miller without offering him a big, long contract imo.

I think they're more worried about him being drawn to another team, possibly with one of the big names.

All else fails, you offered and he declined, nothing you can do about that.

From a pure basketball standpoint, LA is the perfect place for Miller.

But their two time champions with a great core.

Don't give him a deadline, actually recruit him and make some pitches if those certain teams retain or get major FA's.

I don't see Miller picking a team on the 1st day. He is a player that could be a great role guy on a solid team, he'll weigh his options after the dominos fall. But I could be wrong.

Even if we don't sign Miller, this is def. a positive sign.

I would worried that Jerry Buss would get cheap and not do anything to improve the team.

Now isn't the time to be cheap, but also now isn't the time for knee jerk reactions when offering deals.

I would rather use that $30 million to try to aquire Felton. I know he would have to take a sizeable pay cut, but some players only care about winning.

I'd rather give Mike Miller 30 million than give Amir Johnson 34 million.. Or Rudy Gay 80 million (don't get me wrong, I like Rudy, but his game is 2nd tier compared to the real superstars of the league)..

Hell, Darko got 20 mill from Minny.

Milwaukee has dumbfounded me as well, re-signing Slamons (after trading for Maggette) and signed Drew Gooden to a stupid ass deal.

Well, let's hope LeBron does have his decision by July 5th and that decision is with the Cavs..

Then we can offer Miller who has always wanted to play with LeBron :)

Then we can get a couple S&T's done...

Yikes, I don't get it. I agree that Miller would be a good fit in the triangle but his stats have shown the last few years that he's clearly in a downturn of his career. Then again, he's never played for a legitimately good team so who knows. Still, $30 mill is a pretty good coin for someone like Miller. Whatever I guess, they're the champs for a reason.

5 years is the number I question. $6 mil/year really isn't that bad at all.

He went 11/6/4 last year, shot 50% from the field and 48% from 3. You can say his numbers are down from where they were a few years ago, but that's mostly because his shots are down. He averaged 11 points on 8 shot attempts per game.

He's a terrible defender, but he's still a very good offensive weapon. I just wouldn't shell out 5 years to a 30 year old white guard who was never the greatest athlete to begin with. When he loses a step he'll be pretty much worthless.
