I find it odd that one of you accused me of not being tolerant. My agenda is for everyone to have the same human rights, regardless of their religion, skin color, sexuality, age, or anything else. I don't think I can be any more tolerant than that.
I don't want the courts to side with me if I am wrong. There are more intelligent people in this world than I. Based on what I know I have formed an opinion that I think is correct however I am not a judge. I am glad that others who are more qualified than me make such decisions.FairwoodKing;485139 wrote:...
Yes, I am biased in my agenda. We all are. No matter what you believe, you want the legislatures and courts to side with you. That's why we have elections.

You, on the other hand, have been clear that you want them to decide in your favor even if a judge believes differently.
Your way and what's best for you isn't always what's right and best for all or even constitutional. Your unwillingness to accept the judgment of a more qualified individual or group of individuals is an indication of a lack of tolerance.

I'm not going to argue with decades and centuries ago, you are right, homosexuals were persecuted.
However, today, in the US, what human rights are denied.
I know we've already gone round and round with this, but you can not prove one single human right that gays are denied in America.
tk421;486467 wrote:Yeah right. Even if that were true, the gay person would then sue and be awarded millions in damages. Trying to act like the law allows someone to be fired for being gay or evicted. Please. I don't own any property, but do you know how hard it is to evict a "normal" person from a building? Like gays can just be thrown out on the streets. You need to stop sensationalizing your "discrimination". There's no one throwing gay people out on the streets for being gay or getting fired from a job.
tk421;486564 wrote:Please, show me one person who has ever been evicted or fired for being "gay". Hell, you can hardly evict a drug dealer without tons of hassle. Also, Ohio is an at will work state, unless a boss calls someone a queer before firing them, no one would ever be able to "prove" that they were fired for being gay. You're just making crap up.
FairwoodKing;486465 wrote:In the state of Ohio, a gay person could be evicted from an apartment or fired from a job solely for being gay. There is nothing in the state's anti-discrimination law to prevent it.
FairwoodKing;486597 wrote:That's bullshit. If we had our legal rights, we wouldn't be fighting for them.
Gblock;486967 wrote:i think that while on the record their are protections for gay's it would be very ignorant to think that they don't get discriminated against "off the record" in many different situations just like other groups and minorities. Bigotry and racism and homophobia are still very rampant in this country. I ll give an example. I read a lot of my news on websites like cnn, yahoo etc... at the bottom of every article people can comment. Under most articles you only have to read one or two comments before someone calls someone the N word or Fag or something like that. there still are lots of poeple who are predjudiced toward many diff groups. probably more than some would admit to. at times these types may be landlords, or hr reps in companies and im sure that discrimination happens often very quietly
