Two big Wisconsin laws make the list--statewide smoking ban, starting July 5th, and new penalties for repeat drunk drivers. Previously, there were people who repeatedly had DUIs who weren't heavily punished, thanks to the beer culture here. It became more of an issue when someone with a DUI who was sentenced but not yet imprisoned killed a family while driving drunk in the week before going to jail. That raised a lot of eyebrows and brought some attention to the issue.
