The last time I had to drive to Dover stadium, six cars were keyed, including mine!!! Not hard to defend, but people are sick of hearing the same stories!!! Move on. The stories get bigger and worse every year!! Next year, the same people will be lifeflighted from the stadium!!

Same stories, same time of year, same reason we prefer not to play there.

"Pieces of concrete block" LOL

Good, then all the Dover fans can stay home...don't want to come to big, scary Steubenville!

Hey Dover, when was this game you're talking about, because we didn't play Dover in the late 80's.

It's funny, we never have these kinds of problems in good ol' rural Ohio.

Urban Myths...they have a way of growing over time.

Just like Ursuline supposidly dropped us a few years ago (after 4 straight defeats) because their fans were mistreated in Steubenville, but due to a divine miracle (and a loaded team) they seemed to forget about that and scheduled us again....and what do you know, there was NO reports of any incidents this year!

I have never heard of any Dover fans being assaulted at Death Valley. The only story like that I have ever heard as the infamous game at West Branch during Dover's last years in the NBC. People had their cars keyed and people were parking fans in their yards(charging money too) only to have them towed later.

I'm sure Peachymom was just joking, but seriously back in the kitchen woman.

The one person was my neighbor, he graduated in 1990 so I would guess about 87? I think this was the same game the band was pelted, and the last time Dover played in Steuv. Till the late 90s

We did host Dover in 87, but I don't consider that "late", more like "mid".

And what bathroom was this in? This story just seems to outlandish to be true....band kids beaten up in a bathroom and had to be sent to the hospital?? I'm pretty sure I would have heard about something like that.

this was during the beginning of Steve Stroups 25 years as band director, if you see him out and about inquire about it. I'm sure he remembers.

I remember that WB game too it was 1990 I believe.

There was a refreshment stand and bathrooms at the top left (facing field) of home side. The band parked outside a gate there and sat in the end zone stands at that end. They were allowed to go to the refreshment stand and bathroom in that area only during the third quarter. One had a broken nose, the other a busted lip, the ambulance that was at the field suggested we take them in for stitches/ xray of nose.

On another note... Are there any radio stations covering the edition game that have live webcasts? Or even a site that keeps an updated scoreboard.

Well, they must have really kept that hush-hush, because I never heard of anything like that, and I sit up near that concession/bathroom, but if you say it did, then I believe you.

There is no broadcast of the Edison game that I know of...but I'm sure updates will get out.

Lest ye forget the forgone days (or are too young to remember) of the heated Salem/West Branch encounters. The two teams agreed not to schedule each other for a few years because of extra-curricular activity on and off the field. These days the games on the field are still good battles, but cooler heads have prevailed outside the lines.

Looks like Salem will get another 150 mile march. At least I have friends in Lancaster (20 miles away from Sheridan HS) if I decide to go.

Looks like we have to pick up this years post season where last years left off. I really wanted the marlington match up, guess they will have to work for it.
Thanks for the updates! I don't envy your drive at all, the time we met them in the post season it was in Zanesville. Good Luck Salem!

Great, with Dover/Big Red playing most likely, I'll actually have to do some moderating this week (I have no faith in you guys keeping it civil :p)
