So NO business is being taxed to the point that it threatens the jobs of employees -- ANYWHERE?

That's fucking amazing. I'm sure you must have a link to prove this, so I'd love to see it.

Yet, you repeat, ad nauseum false talking points. Now, I don't mean to demonize the corporate world, but your blind allegiance to it is at least as bad as a union man's blind allegiance to union life.
Just so I'm understanding you, if businesses pay no taxes they do not; therefore, create wealth? So wealth only comes from businesses if and when they are taxed? The only way businesses create wealth and therefore jobs is if they are properly taxed?

Speaking of the thread title, here's some more disgust - http://www.theblaze.com/stories/hhs-secretary-acknowledges-obamacare-budget-tricks/

Apparently, in the land of Geithner, Sibelius, Pelosi and Reid, $500,000,000,000 can be used on BOTH sides of a balance sheet...depending on which audience is receiving the sermon. Just better hope that videos and texts never surface of the duality. Or hope that you don't get exposed in front of a House Subcommittee. Oops, Kathleen. Now you've admitted the truth, so you'll have to go bye bye.

Sure am glad they had to pass this unconstitutional POS in order to find out what's in it.

Oh, please. You are not helping. I'm not a fan of the Department's view either, they should open back up the drilling areas with increased regulation.
But, to equate that to communism is a huuuuge step. The government is not stepping in and taking over the industry or taking all their makings and eliminating profits. Please, you are not helping.

Same tax rates + increase in SS, Medicare and Medicaid + increase in Defense budget= higher debt.
Not just the administration, but every single Congressman who does not have the cuts to cut SS and Medicare.

No; his post was esentially incorrect and misleading; I don't know if it was intentional or not.

Does anyone understand it? Don't you think the way our federal gubmint has been spending money is a significant part of the $15,000,000,000,000 debt problem we now have? Or should we just continue on the same ways we have been hoping and praying that it will be different next time?

The deficit is not 11 TIMES LARGER than '07 because of incremental increases in SS and Medicare and Defense; GET IT!

I haven't looked at any numbers, but I would say the main reason the deficit is so large is due to less of a tax base due to unemployment. I don't think the spending has increased by that much.

Hmm, I actually think it is. Also, add in TARP, which is starting to get paid back, and lower revenue coming in due to the recession and a lower dollar internationally over the years.

ptown,

Stop it, just STOP IT. You know damn well that Quaker isn't going to let something as insignificant as "facts" spoil a perfectly good rant.

Seriously, though, how can you keep cutting taxes and expect to keep up, even if you don't increase spending by as much as a dime?

Iunno, I've providing a rational. Sure, discretionary spending has increased, but overall, it is the mandatory spending that has jacked up.

The debt sucks, no question about it. But, the main reasons are the big three (now four) that no one wants to touch: SS, Medicare, Medicaid and Defense.
Add to that the global recession and loss of revenue coming in=higher debt.

Sorry; you lose.

The average of federal outlays from '01 - '08 was $2.395 trillion. The average of federal outlays over the last 2 years is $3.618 trillion; an ASTOUNDNG 51% INCREASE IN SPENDING.

(And don't say it was SS either since there have been no COLA's granted lately).

The math doesn't work. For big a jump it has to be mandatory spending since that takes up 85% of the budget each year. There is no way that 15% of the budget caused that spike.
Spikes in SS, Medicare, Medicaid, Defense and decrease in revenue caused the spike.

Those are the spending numbers. A decrease in revenue does not translate into a spending spike, sorry. The obama/pelosi/reid triumvirate spent more than ever imaginable.
