Regardless of where he plays football I hope he gets his head on straight and pulls the grades up. He is just another kid who went to college because it was expected of him. A year of maturity and perspective will be good for him. Imagine the pressure that he is under, he is Chris Carter's kid! It not like he is Justin Zwick's kid and does not have expectations to live up to.

What amazes me is Carter is not some kid from the hood who receive a poor education. This is a young man who grew up in an affluent household and who went to private schools.

As someone noted above, some people are not cut out for college. I am guessing Carton goes on to Coffeyville and then does a year somewhere else like USF or UCF before declaring for the NFL.

Immaturity knows no economic boundaries. Howie Long's middle kid has been given chance after chance and still manages to mess things up despite his incredible athletic abilities (more so than Duron Carter).

^ Nope Papa Carter said he chose that school because its in Topeka, Kansas and because of their reputation for helping people with academic issues. I don't think Duron had a say in where he was going.

Not hard to judge him at all.

Millions of guys who are "only" 19 are fighting wars, feeding families, and making good grades in school -- and most of them never had anything close to the financial support Duron got while growing up, or the benefit of going to a very good school.

He's a fool and a tool (I felt poetic today). His obsessive tweeting and then bitching because people take him to task for tweeting are proof of both, even without his screw up at OSU.

Oh I agree, I think he is totally worthless. I must have just been in a good mood when I wrote that.

But the 19 year olds you were describing have also progressed a little bit more in the maturity department than he has obviously.

He seemed to really love having the OSU football player tag on him tho, so one would question why he didn't apply that to the people who would give him his 15 minutes of fame, the people he would see walking to CLASS?

Nice article by Ken Gordon in Sunday's Dispatch:
As director of Ohio State's Student Athlete Support Services Office, Graham's office sits in a gleaming, multimillion-dollar building devoted solely to helping athletes succeed in the classroom. He oversees a staff of 21 full-time employees and a small army of part-time tutors - a veritable buffet table of academic support, all free. But Graham can't force athletes to eat what he's serving. In the end, it's up to the players, and some don't seem to understand that.

Father made several mistakes while in college and early in NFL career, but he was able to turn his life around. Hopefully, son can turn his life around too.

Also, I have a question. Say duron is at whatever college he is at now, doesnt play football, then comes back to osu the following year. how many years of athletic eligibility would he have left?

You have a limited amount of years to complete your eligibility once you begin. I believe that you have 5 years to complete four years of eligibility from the day you enroll full time. Of course many reasons can be appealed (ie. military service, injury, religious commitment, etc.)

So if I am right...he will still have 3 years left if your scenario plays out.

Can anybody tell me how Duron Carter is a bad guy? I mean, the dude didn't handle business in school, and got caught up with partying and white women.

Does that make him a BAD person? If he was out robbing people and stuff, then maybe you could throw stones, but I just don't see it.

My thoughts as well. There's a big difference between being stupid/lazy and being a bad person. Plus he's still fairly young, plenty of successful people were idiots when they were 19.

But really, how can you blame him? In the word of Carter, he "saw shit in college you never expect to see in the real world." As is the case with many a young man, the white girls just went too hard for him, too hard indeed.
