There may have been another shift in the speculation surrounding where LeBron James will sign when he becomes a free agent in less than two weeks.

During an interview on ESPN Radio in New York, Stephen A. Smith said sources have told him that James is now leaning toward signing with the Knicks and that this factor played a role in Tom Izzo turning down the Cavs’ head coaching job.

“LeBron didn’t speak to Izzo because he doesn’t want to have anything to do with who the next coach of the Cavs is going to be just in case he leaves,” Smith said.

“From what my sources tell me, he still hasn’t made a final decision but he’s higher on New York now than he was a month ago. And the reality is that he is leaning more towards New York than he is towards returning to Cleveland. Izzo knew this,” he said.

Smith suggests that the prospect of competing head to head with Michael Jordan's legacy in Chicago is dampening James' interest in the Bulls.

“He and his people have been digging deeper and deeper ... to inquire about Donnie Walsh and Mike D’Antoni around the league,” he continued. “They have been asking questions over the last week, very in-depth questions, about the New York Knicks organization.”

Steven A. Smith is also a good source on 'how to perform the complete blowjob 101'. It is a traveling class he teaches at Universities across the country where he teaches students that oral sex when performed at the correct time on the correct individual will get you ahead in life. Or at least ESPN.

STFU. This would be great as I am a Knicks fan. I'm still skeptical though.

I thought he wanted to go somewhere where he had a legitimate chance to win a title?

If he took the Cavs to contender status......he could do it anywhere. Plus the Knicks can afford to sign another superstar. And it's the Eastern conference. Things can turn around quickly.

I am naturally skeptical of Screamin A, but he is pretty plugged in and has good sources so I can't just out of hand discount that he might know what he is talking about.

Isn't Smith a big Knicks fan? I don't put much credibility to this, but if the Knicks did sign him and Bosh or Wade, they'd be a contender before the season starts.

I liken this to the Texas to the Pac 10 situation. Looks fine and dandy on the surface with the lure of the glitz and glam. However, when you look at it with common sense, it makes little sense. Why give up money just to go start all over again?

The only way he is giving up money is if he signs a max deal (6 years), which he is not going to do.

He will do exactly what he did last time, which is sign a 3 year deal with a player option for a 4th, so he can hit free agency again at 28. Doing so keeps the pressure on the team to keep improving it, as well as insure that he doesn't get trapped in a bad situation long term.

LOL, anybody who believes ANYTHING Stephen A. Smith says is an IDIOT.

1) He's a die hard Knicks fan (and also fair weather Philly fan)

2) He doesn't have sources

3) He couldn't keep his job at ESPN

4) He's an idiot.

5) He's trying to create ratings for his failing show

Wouldn't put much belief into what SAS has to say.

James thinks he is bigger than the game itself. It irritates me.

+1...the team that has won the championship the last 7 years has been Lebronless.

Of course Stephen A. Smith is going to say that. He's going to stay, book it and bank it.

I'm not saying Lebron is going to the Knicks, but I honestly can't believe that there are people saying that the Knicks wouldn't win as many games as Lebron would with the Cavs. Any team Lebron plays for will automatically become a top 3 Eastern conference team.

Heck look at the Cavs roster. Without Lebron they're lucky to win 20 games.
